kirbyThere's probably a way to unlock the console. There's also, I believe, a command line in one of the initial files that you change and then you won't be sped up. I'll have to find ît later

My only prob is apparently my resolution isn't good enough and locks are invisible for me

Console is unlocked, and some commands work (I tried tcl, tm, tfc), but for whatever reason fov is locked, which makes no sense.

kirbyThat's how it was for FNV. I don't think you could alter run speed via files, so I did through the console and I got no achievements. Pretty sure I fully completed everything too :(

When you open and use the console, it disables achievements for that specific playthrough. Meaning you can set all your SPECIAL stats to 10, give yourself 100 in every skill, and late game equipment, save and quit the game, then boot Fallout up again, load your game, and have all your modified stuff while still being able to unlock achievements. It's possible you don't have to exit Fallout entirely, just reload, but I'm not sure about that.

deadboltRockkkkkkklooks like a good game but i have a rule about buying early access games
this isn't early access, it's full release

that's the joke. Bethesda games are always buggy and poorly optimized. So in 2 years when the GOTY edition is released and the Official Fan Patch is made is the time to buy it

whoops.

Also if any of you are playing and your mouse movements feel laggy in any way you should try the stuff in this steam guide;

All my movements feel very smooth and responsive now after following it.

Does anyone know if there's a way to make aim down sights a toggle instead of having to hold down a button?

CommonPlebTino_joejoe347ThingsIs that new at all tho? Bethesda has always been like that with its games. If you are on PC they don't make it easy but they atleaset let you rip the game apart and make it what you want. They just keep the simple console BS in there because many PC people really don't care. If you play PC and bitch about the fact that you have to edit files to change things you are doing pc gaming wrong imo.
You shouldn't have to go into 3 different ini files to turn off mouse acceleration and change your fov. Those options should be implemented in a menu of a game that came out in 2015.

you don't

people have a horrible tendency of throwing commands in every file possible

all of the ones telling you to edit your Fallout 4/Fallout 4/Fallout4Prefs.ini file, in the install directory, are blatantly lying. That's a default file that isn't read by the game AT ALL unless restoring the defaults with the configuration wizard. Likewise, when they tell you to put commands in both prefs and non-prefs, it's BS. Prefs is for user settings, non-prefs for system settings. People are just too lazy to find out where they properly go so they throw it EVERYWHERE and when they see that it works, they tell everyone else to do that, too.

I'm not backing bethesda up on not having ingame settings for these things, it's not excusable, but some people are just being really stupid, don't use their stupidity as an argument against a good game dev

Fun game, but if you don't limit your fps shit is broken. I used nVidia inspector to limit to 60 fps.

Is anyone else having trouble finding ammo? I can't find enough for shit. Kinda wish they kept the part where you could craft your own ammo, unless you still can and I'm blind.

Well in theory there isn't right, it's just if you get high fps things start bugging out, it's their shitty engine

Kind of agree that there's a shortage of ammo but only for a brief while, until you start taking out raiders and super mutants. But anyways, find traders (settlements are great for this) buy ammo and tbh you should have have a variety of ammo so make sure to check your weapons and what ammo they use and favourite them so you can quick select.

The amount of bad reviews on the steam community is insane, I guess I'm holding on to my money for some more time.

In theory you can swim from one nation to another.

But really, you shouldn't have to delve into config files to unlock frame rate, and it being as unstable as it is. Mouse movement felt so nice unlocked, but 99% of the game was ruined :/

Horrible example but I get your point
I pirated it and am really enjoying it so far, although the game has bugged out on me quite a few times, quicksaving prevents me from losing my mind. I'm probably going to buy it in a sale when more of the bugs are gone.

Only played for a couple hours but haven't had any problems yet, however it feels like it isn't as smooth as it should be.

Is it better to uncap your FPS or leave it capped?

It's default capped at 60? So if I've uncapped it already I just delete the edits in the .ini file and it will be recapped right?

AvastIt's default capped at 60? So if I've uncapped it already I just delete the edits in the .ini file and it will be recapped right?

From my experience it's defaulted at 60 but can be uncapped by changing iPresentInterval in fallout4pref.ini to 0
However if you go over 100 fps then it will start to cause some issues especially with entering/exiting terminals
For some reason having adaptive vsync on through the nvidia control panel adds fairly significant input lag for me, so I'm using rivatuner to cap my frames at 100 instead. Works fine now.

Alternatively, I heard borderless windowed mode also removes frame cap without the weird physics effects. Might be worth a try.
