SetsulSettings? Especially the stream makes quite a difference. 320*240 at 15fps runs on a toaster, 1920*1080 at 60fps means i7/Xeon minimum.
Also if you're going for minimum there will be fluctuation.

Comanglia settings, 720p 30 fps for streaming. Also what about without streaming? Obviously that would make a big difference as you said, but how big in terms of price?

and lights
cd drive
i'm assuming it does and pc part picker is really slow rn so i could use their psu calculator.

At least 100$, probably more.

You linked a GPU and no PSU.
I don't think 12GB SSDs exist.
And it's spelled "vengeance".

How much time and effort do you think I should invest in helping you if you can't even be bothered to check what you wrote?

+~15%, 140$ down the drain.
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=71&cmp[]=2815
http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-750-Ti-vs-Nvidia-GTX-560/2187vs3155

Those benchmarks dont take in consideration that my card is the super clocked version @ 1176 mhz default.

i would be surprised to only have a 15% upgraded performance from :

GTX 560 : 810mhz clock 1gb
to
GTX 750 ti sc : 1176 mhz clock 2gb (possibility of booster 1255 MHz Clock)

Meh, we will see when i get it tomorrow

Clocks are meaningless if it's not the same chip. Especially if it's not even the same architecture.
The original Titan is chilling at 837MHz base clock and I'm pretty sure it's a lot faster than either of those.

You're also forgetting that the 750 Ti reference got a 1020MHz base clock and can boost aswell.

Hey looking at getting a new pc, 2.8k budget (ill be building it in a http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/pc-v359/ so you dont have to worry about factoring in the cost of a case) can spend $300-500 more if its worth it.
Purely used for gaming (mainly Path of exile, csgo and tf2 with the occasional aaa game/civ 5/sims/etc) on a 1440p 144hz monitor

500gb ssd is all I need for storage, poe benfeits greatly from faster ssd's because it loads assets from the disk while rendering them or something like that, dont care about oc'ing, nvidia gpu only please, fully modular psu please, dont care about streaming, ill be buying stuff from here http://pccasegear.com/ or http://www.scorptec.com.au/

I think I covered everything

Bucakehow about (internal) storage..? i'm looking for something reliable of at least 4TB. speed isn't a priority, but i consider it a nice bonus.SetsulNoise, heat/power consumption, price a concern?
How reliable? URE rate? Rated read/writes per year? Warranty?
Also which shop(s) (or price comparision site), you might not be able to get some of the HDDs I'd otherwise recommend, especially Toshiba and Hitachi availability and prices are weird.

i use tweakers.net, but wouldn't mind ordering something from abroad if it's not available here.
noise actually is a concern, and i would gladly pay extra to get something quiet (my open headphones do not keep any noise out).
power and heat are not really a concern.
as for price, i didn't really have a number in mind.

warranty of at least 3 years would be nice. as for URE and read/writes per year, i was ready to trust you on not recommending me low-rated products ;p it'll just be for home-use, so it will never be under a huge amount of stress.

i hope that's specific enough?

low-rated != bad
low-rated = cheap

An HDD rated for 55TB/yr will work perfectly fine if its workload is <55TB/yr. If you tax it with 400TB/yr it won't last long.
UREs are unavoidable the question is what rate can your setup tolerate before the probability of data loss becomes too great.

Noise rules out the Toshiba MD04ACA.
So I'd say ST4000DM000
http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/330154/seagate-desktop-hdd-st4000dm000-4tb.html
If you insist on a 3 year warranty it's either the ST4000DX001 SSHD, surveillance HDD or the
HGST Deskstar NAS
http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/372300/hgst-deskstar-nas-4tb.html

URE E-14 for all of them.

The PSU isn't great, oversized and usually overpriced.
RAM should really be 1600MHz CL9.
Also the mobo is DDR4, the RAM is DDR3. You'll have to change one of them or it won't work at all.
And no GPU.

Budget and prices might help aswell.

This is the final build I came up with. Wondering if there's anything I need to change. I do plan on upgrading to an i5 in the future.
Budget is $400 US (Build is $425 with an SSD)
Will be playing TF2, CSGO, and BF3/4(want to play at low-medium settings at 60fps).
Will be OCing the g3258 to at least 4.4Ghz and the 750 Ti as well.

55TB/y sounds like a ton to me. unless i don't correctly understand what it actually means, i'd be surprised if i ever exceeded 5TB/y. because i'll mainly just be storing and playing movies and music on/from it, no applications will be installed on it..

and sorry, but i think i don't entirely understand the UREs-thing..
so, you can expect a certain number of UREs based on what interface is being used? thus, your motherboard basically decides what interface you'll be using, and therefore also the number of UREs you'll (probably) have to put up with..?

thanks a lot for the help so far :)
though, i was actually willing to spend a bit more than either of those two suggestions would cost.
what would you recommend if the budget was ~€300..?

Shit-posting aside,

For a very limited budget, I would choose a GTX 750/ti. For the average person, R9 380X is a very capable graphics card. On the Nvidia side, even if they are pretty anti consumer (although their drivers work unlike AMD), the GTX 970 is really competent. I use the GTX 960 which isn't the most price efficient but is very good (50fps on ultra in Battlefront 3).

The CPU doesn't matter too much as long as it's not terrible, 8GB is a must nowadays and SSDs are a luxury but aren't necessary.

No, 55TB/yr means what you think it means. More than enough for your purposes.

You know what a URE is?
No the interface doesn't matter, it might look like it because all consumer HDDs are E-14 and all consumer HDDs are SATA, but you can get enterprise HDDs in SATA too. E.g. the MG04ACA, enterprise equivalent of the MD04ACA (E-14 although it's actually probably <E-15), is rated at E-16.

Do you have backups? If yes for pure size and highest GB/€ Seagate Archive HDD v2 8TB
http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/427020/seagate-archive-hdd-v2-st8000as0002-8tb.html
3 year warranty btw.

It's using SMR but since you'll be using it for cold storage anyway (I doubt you'll be deleting/editing/rewriting your music and movies all the time) this won't have an impact.

If you don't have backups now would be a good time to start. 2 ST5000DM000 would be within budget.
http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/408517/seagate-desktop-hdd-st5000dm000-5tb.html
only 2 year warranty though.

Also be aware that this isn't what you'd expect, it's not a 5TB version of the ST4000DM000, it's actually a 5TB Archive HDD. Some people thought they were clever and sold them as "ST5000DM000" since there wasn't one yet and the archive HDD was far cheaper than what you'd expect the 5TB desktop HDD to cost. The performance impact of SMR when not using it for cold storage is obvious though so very few were actually fooled since reviews/warnings popped up almost immediately. Also Seagate decided to join the fun and started selling the Archive HDD 5TB as ST5000DM000 as well except without the premium. The "actual ST5000DM000" is called ST5000DM002 and as you might've guessed more expensive.
I choose the "fake ST5000DM000" because SMR isn't a problem for you and it's cheaper than the "normal" Archive HDD. Imho that 1 year longer warranty isn't worth 35€.

I can explain UREs and SMR if anyone doesn't know but wants to know.

Why no SSD?
Fix what I've complained about or at least tell me whether you want DDR3 or DDR4. I won't recommend anything else until it's not a theoretically working build.

No, 55TB/yr means what you think it means. More than enough for your purposes.

omg sry I was typing this on class while teacher was fixing some mistakes on hmtl/css code and forgot to mention that.
Anyway whats the major difference and what impact it causes? I would most likely go with what you suggest

If I go with option 2 and dont care about sli possibilities wouldn't I be better off buying a http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1151/60664-H170M-PLUS ?

DDR4, i might explain the differences when I'm bored but not now, it's nothing major anyway,

#746
SSD and mobo are unrelated optional upgrades. Just stick with the GA-B150M-D3H.

So i got my build together a while ago thanks to you setsul but i'm having some indecision with the motherboard, you recommended the msi b85m e45:
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-csmb85me45

but i've been thinking about instead getting the msi h97m g43:
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h97mg43

since its only $30 extra and i might aswell if it works but my main worry is if it will work with the video cards and case i currently have for both builds as they could potentially not fit or just block more parts of the mobo compared to the b85m, this is the build apart from the video card and ssd for both builds: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/c6wnf7

the 2nd build instead has a powercolor radeon: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/powercolor-video-card-axr93908gbd5ppdhe

And what features does the H97M-G43 offer that you're willing to pay 30$ for?

390 > 970, it's cheaper and faster, but it's your money.

At this point you can get Skylake for the same price. I won't redo the builds until I know when you're actually going to buy the parts.
