I've decided it's time to drop some coin on a g-sync monitor.

I've narrowed it down to two options.

1. AOC G2460PG: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160226

2. ACER XB240H: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009729

Pros/Cons to either? Personal experience with either?

Both are 1920*1080, 144Hz, TN panel.

I have the Acer XB280HK and can confirm gsync is fucking awesome at 60hz. Haven't seen it at 144hz but I imagine it's not quite as noticeable. Regardless it's well worth the investment. If you have the extra and can run tf2 at that resolution you can find 2560x1440 IPS 144hz G-Sync displays which is one of the best spec lists you can get on a monitor right now. If not, there might be the odd IPS 1080p 144hz G-Sync display out there which is well worth paying the extra for over a TN panel.

Edit: for those two particular monitors, the Acer stand seems to be more versatile (mine has the same style but bigger) but it's also a glossy piece of shit that picks up every bit of dust. The Acer stand is definitely quite solid though, I've had monitors that would wobble when I type but this one is fine.

I have the AOC G-sync 144hz one and it works as intended and it can be turned into every direction which is good.
Honestly tho if I could I would probably taken a 144hz lightboost monitor instead.

So you think G-Sync isn't worth it?

Sorry for reviving a 2 week old thread, but this may be worth the wait.

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-088-AS

Asus PG279Q ROG Swift 27" 2560x1440 IPS G-Sync 165Hz

Looks like it went on pre-order in the UK for Q4 2015 (tentatively 11/13/2015)....so US should probably be around the same time. Will be curious to read the reviews. Apparently the monitor is stock 144hz, however 165hz is a "boostable" setting via a switch on the monitor and meant specifically for gaming.

EDIT: Just to note and keep in mind, this monitor will be priced tentatively between $800-$900 upon release.

Acer Predator XB270HU should be using the same panel and is already available and cheaper.

Also neither are in the same price category as the 1080p TN panels OP mentioned.

Depending on the price difference I'd still rather go for the Asus. Acer's product offering is very good but their quality control is lacking. My XB280HK (i.e. at the time pretty much their highest end monitor) has significant backlight consistency issues whereas Asus monitors I've seen have been much better.

ULMB on a 120Hz IPS panel; isn't that a first as well?
