Hi, recently got new internet that is fast, works fine browsing websites, loading content.
My connection to my normal servers is fine as well like 40 - 50ms.
Every game I have a very very short period of packet loss, like half a second, so quick that nothing registers on the netgraph, I will be playing and then teleport backwards to resync with the server.
I have tried my housemates computer and he gets it as well.
I called the ISP they claim that nothing is wrong with the line. is there anything I can do? maybe a setting in the router itself?

I've been getting this same thing for several weeks. Seems to happen a lot when going through shutter doors or jumping. Had current router for years though, was going to replace it soon with a duplicate I've been keeping as a backup to see if that solves it. Will let you know how it goes for me.

Have you been getting any other weird bugs like ammo boxes showing as health kits or teammates showing up as enemies of the wrong class? Verifying cache didn't work to fix that so I was thinking it might be getting bad packets from the server.

well its either your router, modem, or ISP.

so what you do is
1. unplug router, and test internet with direct ethernet cable. I hope you're not on wireless (if it doesn't fix it go step 2)
2. get a new modem, usually this means calling your isp and get them to replace it.. (if it doesn't work step 3 etc)
3. get a new isp (I would put my money on this one)

Not really a solution, but if you want to easily double-check if you're actually losing packets you can use net_showdrop 1. A message will be printed to the console every time a packet is lost.

When I had this, there was a problem on my ISP's end and they were very reluctant to admit it and fix it, for some reason. Also, are you sure you're actually losing packets, not just having one or more delayed for a very long time? When I had this, my ping table to my ISP looked like this:

Packets: Sent = 300, Received = 300, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 9ms, Maximum = 974ms, Average = 44ms

Every fifteenth or so packet would take anywhere from 129 to 974 milliseconds to arrive and then it would immediately go back to 15-20. As wonderland said, check if your router isn't the problem by removing it from the equation.
