Seems to be the case, might be an option for the Final.

I like Lakeside, I like Process, only touched Croissant once but it seemed fun.

Not sure if I like Steel sneaking into the equation, that is a tough map either way.

I am so not thrilled by Standin. It is impossible to cast. I imagine it can be fun to play and offer an opportunity for interesting and creative strategy, from a caster's perspective, it's a nightmare. I may sit that week out...

Standin and Steel are amazingly fun to play, but yeah, casters may have trouble since there's action in multiple places at any given moment. Not thrilled about the vitalism redo, but if the right things were changed (spawn times for god's sake) it could be decent. The rest I'm cautiously optimistic about. It's good to force teams, good and bad, to learn new things.

I don't understand this map selection process for playoffs. You should play your regular season matches, then have the playoff maps being selected from the maps you play in the regular season. Also upward should definitely be included in the regular season always.

Standin is actually really boring, you spend most the map sitting on a cap point, not how I want to play TF2.

Taking Upward out of the map pool is like removing Granary from 6's, not sure how many leaders voted, 2?

The problem with picking maps is that when we released S8's maplist (which is fairly vanilla, and was voted on by team leaders instead of by admins) we had the exact opposite problem - lots of people asking us for the addition of a few custom maps. Most of the maps picked for S9 were some of those that lost by a very small amount of votes in that S8 map pick, plus involvement and suggestions for more custom maps by the community, and now we're getting a similar backlash. Upward was included in the early stages of conversation but was ultimately dropped. Personally I have no idea where the pl_waste idea came from but it won't count towards anything next season anyways.

No matter what gets picked there will always be vocal opposition. While we're still growing and learning we're trying to keep the map pool deep, but very few of these maps are brand new to anyone who's been playing HL since at least S6.

Anybody know anything about koth_arctic_b2a? Does that b2a really = beta 2? Seems a bit early for a map to be included in a full season.

I'd like to try BarnBlitz pro RC2, the original is terribly unsuited to highlander, but its crazy that this got put in in front of Upwards.

I'll give the new CTF map a try, but I'm disappointed Turbine Pro was taken out. I know I'm probably in the minority, but it was a great map that has gone some ways towards revitalizing CTF.

I also hate Steel.

Finally, I think it's a little absurd to have playoff maps that have never been played in the regular season...

koth_arctic won the TF2maps.com koth contest which STAR sponsored. And one of his stipulations for the maps was that they should be designed with Highlander play in mind, so it should be decent enough, one assumes.

I have returned to state that koth_arctic actually kicks ass. Should try it out 6v6 as well.

I'm told that UGC running maps for playoffs that haven't been played during the season has actually been standard operating procedure. I still don't like it. Playoffs should be the finest of the map pool, not a map that a team hasn't seen all season.

I think ctf_haunt is actually just a reskinned ctf_vitalism, so it isn't really a new map to UGC. Also I agree, turbine was actually pretty fun
