I think its worth the experience even if it takes you longer than paying someone else to do it

after market cpu coolers can be tricky, I got my new pc built for $100, worth the time and hassle (and potential problems) imo

well, just because a lot of people do it doesn't mean it's not silly.
$79? come on, man. maybe if it was $10-$15 i would get it, but this is silly.

Yeah it seems ridiculous to me too, but I can also see how if you have a lot of disposable income you may value your free time more than money or want to ensure that you have it done properly. If the dude has money and doesn't want to bother with building a PC I don't see a reason he shouldn't just pay somebody. That being said, $80 would be absurd for building a PC (I know NCIX does it for $25)

IMO the building isn't hard, plenty of good youtube tutorials out there. But its the liability of possibly having to provide support for it later down the road if something goes wrong. And secondly, there is probably a 15-20% chance of a DOA part. The troubleshooting and RMA'ing defective parts are the real annoying parts of building your own. I still build my own though.

I know how to build a computer, I've done it before, but honestly I just don't have the drive to finish this one myself.

How far did you get?
There's not a whole lot of steps and none of them are terribly complicated so I'm curious where you've given up.
I mean in the time it takes "to discuss details" you could probably finish it yourself.
