http://theroundrob.in/post/36846583660/oohhh-girls-they-wanna-have-fu-uh-uhhhnn-lady

Lady Fortress 2 (NA) faces off Handbags at Dawn (EU), in a pregame tournament for Season 6 of The Round Robin, to prove once and for all which region has the best team. Both teams are set to face off in a three round battle for glory with the victory claiming all of the bragging rights forever. Like, forever. So yeah, it’s going to be intense. Each team has a mixture of newer and more comp experience players and as both teams were created for Season 6 of The Round Robin, it’s anyone’s guess who is going to come out victorious.

The game will be played on Saturday 1st December 2012 at 22:00 CET/18:00 EST and will be casted live by me, Kip, on my Twitch TV channel (twitch.tv/falafel1066), don’t worry if you miss it, the VoD will be on my Youtube Channel later (http://www.youtube.com/falafel1066).

The first all girl transatlantic showdown in TF2 Highlander history!

Get ready, Winter is Coming.

(For more Lady friendly TF2 funtimes check out r/teamfortresstwox an awesome community of ladies who play TF2.)

P.S. Khaleesi actually wrote this :)

As a girl, I resent girl-only tourneys. Why not participate with guys in leagues that already exist? I think being the best of both genders warrants more bragging rights. This feels like the Special Olympics.

Somebody needs to pull a juwanna mann on that community. Just to see if it's possible. But I'm excited. Women are technically the majority of the population and tf2 needs a bigger audience, so why not?

It's a showmatch for the round robin. Why not do something different?

As a girl, I agree with you. But this is not a tournament. It is a scrim between two teams that are playing the Round Robin. They are both the only all-girls teams. One is from Europe, one is from North America. They thought it'd be fun to stream it. Many of these players are in competitive TF2 and they're all amazing.

Don't worry, we're not turning this into a "gurl gam3r" or whatever thing. It's just a scrim with all ladies!

Because all I hear about is women wanting to be equal, and then they purposefully separate themselves out for something like a girls-only show match like it's a novelty. What's the point? People are people. It isn't like I'm going to get to see their boobs during the game, so why should it be any more interesting than watching more seasoned players? Viewers should be earned, not granted because somebody has a vagina.

Seriously Renhet, go lobby the Olympics. They divide sports into men and women. Would love to see men's and women's sports combined and rarely see a women even place. Things like tennis, yeah women can still compete with men. ESEA is like that. Doesn't mean there can't be gender divided sports/games.

Except the Olympics are divided as such because of the physical differences between men and women. This does not apply to Team Fortress 2, or any video game.

So you're saying there is no use of physical motions when playing TF2, which might be affected by the physiology of a person? Do you think that invite illuminati of every game is at it when there's basically no pro females in most games?

You do understand that a flick of the wrist or swish of the arm can't compare to a full-on activity like running, lifting, and long-jumping, correct?

Then where are all the invite women teams? Even if women were* 10% of a the gaming population, I'm pretty sure less than 10% of invite players are women. There's a statistical reason for dividing it, because the skill/division level doesn't seem to be independent from gender. I mean yeah you could legitimately argue social factors and all that (because I think that's a huge factor in reality), but the fact is males dominate competitive sports. This one tournament is trying to bring to light the minority gender of players that are also a huge minority of high level competition in games in general.

Even if it isn't because of physical reasons, it's still to help show a minority.

They don't put forth the same amount of effort as male players generally. I don't know why that's hard to understand. It has nothing to do with gender whatsoever. When I had the time and internet to pour more time into the game, I was better than most of my male friends and could go toe-to-toe with people that had been playing longer than I had. I put together a team, including one other female, and I think that with our resolve and our Invite mentor, we could have one day made it to LAN. It didn't fall apart because two girls were on the team, it fell apart because my pocket disappeared, our prodigy Scout chose real-life sports, and our versatile caller dropped off the grid.

You were pressing physical differences being relevant to video games, and now you're changing your tune and grasping at straws. Those statistics don't prove anything other than, hey, guys play video games more than girls. What a revolutionary notion!

We're not a poor minority, most girls just don't give a fuck. There's no reason to be treated differently.

So what exactly warrants being treated differently? I just spit out various reasons you could be treated differently. I could come talk about celebrities and race and what not. Would having celebrities in those charity tournaments be elitist? No, it's what people want to see. If some people/girls want to play against other girls, why not let them? It's not just a competitive situation, it's heavily a social thing. If this was a serious league maybe I'd care, but it's not. Which is why, like you said, most girls don't give a fuck as much, so they have their own thing. Like I'm pretty sure that there are paid sports leagues from YMCA or something that intersect with middle school/high school and the same age group (meaning no physical reason to separate) but don't play together. The atmosphere is different. There are many reasons for divisions and it's not trying to belittle you.

Like I personally don't feel this event is very serious, seems like more of a for fun thing. If it is actually super serious with something beyond small bragging rights, I'm sorry and maybe you are right.

Just cause you're not running or using strength doesn't mean playing video games doesnt involve physical effort.

Hand eye coordination, reaction times, "aim", all that stuff matters. It's not anything against the female gender but those attributes are all weaker in females just like how strength and other athletic abilities are weaker.

Looked up reaction time studies, don't know how accurate they are, but here's one on Olympic competitors:
http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0026141

I do think physical abilities go beyond hand motion/muscle movement/reaction time, and probably includes decision making. Decision making difference is hard to gauge. Still, I think statistically men have an advantage aside from things involving flexibility. Maybe it's because of social factors? I don't know. Hormones? Who knows, too lazy to research. I still don't think the difference is enough for a serious tournament, but this isn't one.
