Inspired by a rayshud mod I used several months ago, with elements from several other great huds.
My hud has finally come to the point where my friends actually use it so I figured now would be a good time to post it.

That looks like an issue with you not downloading the materials/vgui folder correctly. The only thing I can think of to fix it right now is to re-download the materials folder and make sure you get the loadout_header and loadout_footer vtfs and vmts.

ok I'm actually a baddie for thinking it was a download problem. It's actually an sv_pure thing because of the custom vtfs I use as the header and footer. The only fix is for me to use a different header and footer.
I'll start working on a new version right now.

EDIT: Should be fixed now. Had to remove the pretty header and footer :C
DOUBLE EDIT: Jarkin taught me how to get the pretty header and footer back C:

Hey man, I love the HUD, if nothing else but because of the Quake FONT, because that shit is amazing. However, I have an issue with menu elements clipping into each other, here's a picture.

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab202/Static_013/HUDIssue-Overlap1_zpsc4e0dd91.png

My res is 1366x768, any suggestions?

Also, what's the file dictating cross hairs? I already use the cross hair that your HUD forces me to use, but it's set with a color and a size I like and I want to get rid of the one your HUD has.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, I haven't been at a computer for a while.

I just removed that button entirely since I don't have a promo code for anything. I'll make it a part of the main menu once I get one.
The HUD crosshair thing was a mistake on my part, since I copied over my personal hudlayout.res and hudanimations.res. It shouldn't show a crosshair anymore unless you set it to one.

To use a HUD crosshair, go to your minHUD/scripts folder and and choose one from the hudlayout.res file. The crosshairs are listed in the same order as picture provided and should be centered for 1920x1080, but will need adjusting for your resolution.

To animate your crosshair, go to your minHUD/scripts folder again and replace "CROSSHAIRNAME" with the field name of your crosshair (OpenCrossDot, QuakeCross, TFLogo, etc.)

Zambleras much as the loading screen is funny, how do you remove it. It's getting pretty annoying to me.

I just added an optional NO GIF version of the loading screen. It's just the main menu with the map name. To use it, rename StatSummary_NO_GIF.res to StatSummary.res .

minHUD v1.4
procrastination nation update

Changelog:

  • Converted most of the customizations to use the #base feature
  • Made differences between fonts much more drastic
  • Changed main menu and loading screens, hopefully should be less edgy
  • Readme file hopefully looks prettier
  • Redid the 4:3 and 16:10 ports
  • Lots of small tweaks for the in-game ui

Known bugs:

  • A lot of the stuff in the customization folder isn't going to work with a 4:3 or 16:10 resolution. Fonts and menus should PROBABLY be ok.
  • I haven't even looked at MvM in a while so if it looks like poop that's why

To do:

  • add more support for 4:3 and 16:10 resolutions
  • maybe pre center crosshairs for more resolutions than 1920x1080
  • take EVEN MORE SCREENSHOTS

Hey man,

I love your hud. I have a 21:9 monitor. So most of the huds i use have a problem of health/ammo being far away from center. I came across your hud which is wonderful for my resolution (2560x1080) but the problem i am having is the clipping of bars as i have shown in pics below:

http://imgur.com/a/r46fq

Any help would be tremendously appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

I switched over to this hud yesterday and it's pretty rad. I've always been interested in seeing an animated loading screen and I don't think I've seen in any other huds I've tried yet. Funnily enough, some friends invited me to play MvM yesterday, too (otherwise I pretty much never touch the gamemode) and as far as glitches are concerned the only thing I noticed was that the powerup canteen counter clips with the health a little bit.

Also the hud is really pretty, nice work :-]

AffanAny help would be tremendously appreciated.

I'm not the maker of this hud but any release he publishes will either be broken for you on your resolution or for everybody else on more standard resolutions, so unless min feels like pushing a version essentially just for you (my guess is he doesn't) you're going to have to fix it yourself. If you sit down and dedicate yourself to it then moving all the charge bars shouldnt take too long, maybe a half hour if you're super slow, more likely fifteen minutes.

  1. Here's a link with an intuitive table that you can use to find out what file controls each weapon's meter; I'd recommend you try starting out with hudlayout.res in scripts.
  2. Then simply ctrl+f for what it says under HudLayout entry (maybe try HudItemEffectMeter first as that controls a ton of them) and play around with xpos.
  3. To play around with it change it by about twenty then open up the console and type "hud_reloadscheme". The bar will have moved by a bit.
  4. Repeat until it's in a position you like.
  5. Then, if you want all the meters in the same spot horizontally, which you most likely do, simply copy that value you just used for xpos and use them for all the other entries in hudlayout.res.
  6. This will fix ~most~ of the meters, you might need to play around with the files called huditemeffectmeter_something.res in resource/ui.
  7. All the information you need to do every meter in the game is in the link.

Other things of note:

  • Open these files up with notepad+ (regular notepad might work but sometimes has issues with tf2 .res files).
  • Make sure to move everything that has an entry in HudLayout.res FIRST. If you do that you can just position one meter and then copy/paste the same value to move all meters the same distance in the x direction (horizontally). Saves you time and makes it clean.
  • Only other thing to look out for is if the meters are overlapping vertically IE if, when using two items with meters at a time, one covers up the others. If that is the case then the value that controls vertical positioning is simply ypos. You can play around with it the same as xpos.

The loadout screen is a bit trickier, I'm not sure what exactly it normally looks like (and it's not as straightforward) but if you do some reading in doodle's guide (feel free to add me for additional help) you could fix that yourself too, even possibly pretty quickly, especially if I, or someone else who knows what they're doing, walks you through it.

EDIT: added some more things to consider and reformatted for readability

After checking this hud out for the 21:9 issues I found that the easiest fix is just to make the bars/elements the desired width and then "xpos" "c-(wide/2)" and be more consistent with the relative to center offsets.

MvM upgrade icons for classes should be the same x/y positions as the counters to fix upgrade status in class selection.

Killstreak icons and head/revenge crit counters (diamondback/frontier justice/eyelander) overlap on the hud on wider screens, using negative (centered) offsets instead of the 1000 wide elements should fix this for all resolutions/aspect ratios.

Very impressed how this uses #base files to extend on existing hud files, might use some of this in my own modification of the default hud.

That's my fault, I assumed that they were already set up with c values and they hadn't worked for the charge bars due to the poster using custom values in launch options, which has previously broken charge bars for me on custom resolutions. I guess nowadays I assume most huds use c-values and aren't sloppily set up, should have checked though. Nice catch!
