Have u played? What do you think of the game?
There's a lot of,hype surrounding it, apparently reviews are widely positive, and it was a record seller for Paradox.

I love city building games, SC4 is still one of my most played games from back in the day and I still play it from time to time, it seems cities skylines is everything the last Sim City should have been, people are saying it's the best city simulator of the decade, which would make it the successor to simcity 4.

I'm really tempted in buying, I rarely buy full priced games on steam but this one looks really good.

Pre-ordered, only got to play the game today because IRL stuff.

Anyway, the first 1.5 hrs it does seem that the game is in a lot of ways what SimCity 2013 should've been, and a lot more. Districts, policies, customizability, difficulty, land area, so on and so on. There's a lot of really neat little features (like moving placed buildings without having to destroy them), how roads work in general, public transportation systems, etc. Also the modding community is already thriving, which brings longevity to the game.

I think it's in a lot of ways like SC4, but at the same time it has the good new features from SC2013. And it's pretty amazing how they got that to work.

I think it's definitely worth buying, even at full price. I'm pretty sure it's the city-builder of the decade.

Downloaded it after seeing a streamer play it. Played it for 7 hours straight and had a lot of fun but don't think it'll have much replay value. Keep in mind this is the first single player game I've ever played that has kept my attention longer than 30 minutes.

I bought the game release day (never pre-order games even with they hype this was generating) and have played it for 16 hours according to steam. At this time my city is about 39,000 population and I've bought 5 expanding squares but I chose the island map so i got less land to play with. There are numerous great things about it and a couple annoying, easy to fix things that I'm sure modders or the devs themselves will fix.

Public Transport is currently a nightmare. The only way to differentiate between bus lines is to find a bus and click on it to change the line color so you can actually see where the line goes. You can't do this for metro and trains and if you edit your roads after you make bus lines the lines become so chaotic you will probably just have to remake them from scratch. Also buses can cause inordinate amounts of traffic if this happens.

Traffic AI is literally aids. They will no matter what take the shortest route from a to b even if it means they will end up on non-arterial roads. They also will stay in the right hand lane 90% of the time no matter the amount of cars, even with a 4 lane one way road. The amount of traffic in relation to population seems to be extremely unbalanced as well, even with amazing road planning. god i hate transportation.
Crime is currently a non-issue in the game as it never goes above 8% as long as you keep happiness high, so there is really no need for alot of police stations. Hopefully they will adjust the crime algorithm soon so that it actually has impact.

Alot of things are not readily explained or easy to deduce, such as the need for uneducated workers in industrial zones. The only way to get these is to do the opposite of what is logical which is to build houses with low land value near these zones, otherwise the industry abandons buildings non stop. This is an extremely realistic feature but is counter intuitive.

Performance wise the game runs fairly well and looks good considering the amount of stuff you can see on the screen and interact with (you can literally follow every single person to every single place) but with larger cities like mine is becoming the frames do drop a bit to below 60 sometimes. I haven't looked at my gpu performance with the game running but I can definitely hear it sometimes (twin frozr 7970 amd fx8350)

I also played a ton of SC4 as a kid and this game is the next best thing. All it is missing is giant death robots and volcanoes to be a true recreation of SC4. Skylines does not have the inter-city relationships like sc4 did though, which would honestly make it a 10/10 for me if it did. I disagree with KrocketKarma as city sims have nearly infinite replayability with making maps and adjusting your city to new landscapes. There are already people recreating cities in 1 to 1 scale from the real world and with mod support day one this game will be amazing years from now. Also they have end game buildings with tons of different pre-requisites that would take hours to get.

TL;DR Good game with mods and a few easily fixed issues. Brings back memories of the good old days in SC4
sorry for the long post but I've had a couple friends message me about the game and felt I should just post the best thing i could where most of them could read it

It's totally worth $30, but only if you like city builders. If you're on the fence, just wait for a sale.

As for the game, it's really really well done. I've put around 15 hours into my first city, and it's only around a quarter of the maximum size, and nowhere near the max population.

I really only have small complaints, like the some weird traffic bugs, but they're usually not a huge issue. I think a lot of people don't totally understand how to plan roads well, and just blaming it on that.

Also the devs have stated that they plan to continue to support the game, plus ad dlc, so I expect most bugs to be fixed in the coming weeks.

edit: it would seem that most discussion on the game is happening over at the subreddit /r/citiesskylines, so if you want more info, check that out.

Worth it imo.

I dislike how cartoony it is, sc4 had a much better artstyle, but the artstyle is nearly the only complaint i have about the game.

It's about 70% of SC4 id say. Comparable to sc3 in its day.

God im so sad for the city building genre though. Can you fucking imagine what could be done with a realistic isometric/2d city sim with today's hardware? I'm sure the DOT or CALTRANS or someone has some type of simulator that could blow these things out of the water and maybe they could make that research available to a game dev, but i feel nobody has really put in the effort to making a complex city sim.

Also you can really tell the developer is from a very white country (finland) because of how homogeneous the people/buildings in game are named and how similar all of the architectural styles are to each other. I would like to see them bring some more diversity to the game for east asian/east european/classic american layouts.

KissakalaI think it's definitely worth buying, even at full price. I'm pretty sure it's the city-builder of the decade.

it's like, the first actual city builder in more than a decade. SC4 came out in 2003. There's basically cities xl, sc2013 (lol), and this. and yes this is much better than both by a lot.
