i'm using windows 7 still so that's not it i don't think

also if it helps i had a scrim where foster and i consistently got the bug like 6+ times in the same scrim and then i played a scrim in a different server after restarting steam and it didn't happen at all

It's happening to me and i'm on win 7.

I tried checking my autoexec by switching with someone who hasn't crashed, didn't work.

I dx8, dx90, 95, etc, tried fullscreen, windowed, changing my launch options, adding and removing -nod3d9ex from launch options, still fucked me up

SoarexProps and people keep disappearing; had to make a bind to record and stop a demo. Helped a bit, however I keep crashing a few minutes after I do this.

I was CTDing too actually -- does it happen if you don't fix it with that? I haven't had the patience to just leave it and see...

G.SKILL RAM for me.

I doubt it's hardware; probably Valve rotated some new interns in to handle TF2 for the next few months and they fucked something up.

It's more than likely something in your various FPS configs. I really don't think posting hardware specs is going to help us figure this out (since everyone experiencing this problem are on completely different builds - as you can see above).

cl_ragdoll_physics_enable 0
g_ragdoll_fadespeed 0

I'd like to chime in on this update as well. When the Steam Broadcasting feature was introduced in beta, being in the Steam Beta *at all* would cause my TF2 to become incredibly unstable. I was lucky to get past the initial launch without freezing.
Reinstalling TF2, verifying files, restarting my PC, none fixed it. Opting out fixed all my issues.
When broadcasting was brought to the release client, the issues came with it. I found a strange fix in running the game in windowed borderless(Ran in fullscreen before). Now, for some reason, with this update, I'm having almost the exact same issue. I launch the game, either normally or joining through a friend, and the game will go non-responsive within 5 seconds of launch.

I'm going to re-install Steam to see if it fixes it, but if anyone has any advice, I'd be glad to hear it.

issue was happening to me constantly during dm / mge, and didn't happen at all during scrims, but it was affecting a teammate + someone else on the other team, sometimes at the same time

After "extensive mge testing" I have come to the conclusion of that it happens pretty much only when using hitscan weapons (take what I say here with a grain of salt here, I can't fully confirm this).

I.E soldier shotgun, scout class, etc. makes you crash.
When playing demo I experienced no issues at all, however as soon as I switched to scout or shotgun soldier the problem occurred after just a few lives.

Valve what have you done?

i'm thinking that i actually might not have crashed once, as demoman..

if you can be bothered, how about removing/renaming your autoexec.cfg, and also removing/renaming your config.cfg?
because if you then would not get any disappears/crashes, then i guess i could go cvar-hunting

because explosions tend to gib enemies, rather than giving them a ragdoll. maybe that's why hitscan causes it, and explosions don't.

I might try playing tf2 completely clean, as in -autoconfig, no hud, no cfgs at all and dx9 later to see if it still causes issues later.

none of these commands are the issue.
i had removed all of those 6 commands from my autoexec.cfg, then deleted my config.cfg, then launched tf2.
i double-checked if the settings were indeed reset to default - which they had been.
but, again, after ~1 minute of playing (after killing someone with scattergun), everything disappeared again.

i'm starting to think that it has nothing to do with any custom mods or configs any of us have.

Twisted had deleted all of his mods, except for his cfg, and still the problems were there.
am i overlooking a possibility here?

i'm convinced that the cause of the disappearances and crashes is indeed killing someone with a hitscan weapon.
i can't really figure out why it doesn't happen every time, though.

Has anyone tried putting -autoconfig in their launch options and seeing what happens? I am personally not getting this issue, so I can't test it myself.

Be sure to back up your cfgs and custom stuff beforehand, though!
