d4m0This should be done officially, not half-assed
Also should be lists for other classes because some of them, especially sniper, are played a lot.
eg sniper: sheep, justin, clockwork etc
pyro: enigma
Spy: harbleu ;)

And yeah sheep is a scout, there is an invite soldier called that or sheepy or something but that's not who we're talking about

Maybe instead of listing them by classes you could have them go by region, and then have a separate little profile listing the classes they are most known for, especially since some players have played invite on multiple classes (Platinum, alfa, smaka, b4nny, pyyyour, harbleu)

And yes this should definitely be done officially instead of somebody throwing some names together.

Essentially, if you were ever on a top 2 ESEA/ETF2L team, then you belong in the tf2 hall of fame

LulzySo I was reading the "Mike Left Epsilon?" Thread and this caught my eye:
NebulaYo can we legit get a TF2 hall of fame? It would be a pretty cool way to look at classic players like reptile, darn, and carnage, all the way up to more recent legends like numlocked and mike. I think it would be a cool addition to Tf.Tv if someone was willing to put time into it.
I've only been around for a year or two and am only familiar with those that played the classes I play, so feel free to help. Just tell me the player name and the class they played.

I thought it was an interesting idea, so why not? Also, should newer players be in here too?

Current Hall-of-Famers:

Scouts: Carnage, Yz50, Justin, Stefan, Oplaid, dabes, Clockwork, Cyzer, Enigma, Squid, Ruwin, Bloodsire, Alfa, Gglygly, wltrs,

Soldiers: Relic, Reptile, Jaeger, Tyrone, Mackey, Darn, Wonderwall, Dave_AC, TLR, A_Seagull, Lange, Yuki, Sheep, GeaR, Jukebox, Fragga, Taggerung, Blaze,

Demomen: SolidSnake, dummy, Numlocked, Rebeli, Bullet, Termo, kaidus, b4nny, ryb

Medics: Pyyyour, Shade, CB, Harbleu,

We should have votes and inductions into the hall of fame... :) Personally I wouldn't quite put alfa into there just yet....

Votes could either be community driven OR we could do something like "media members + captains" get to vote. That would be neat.

If you're including Pyro, you can't leave out Bloodsire.

In hindsight, the idea was good, but the execution was bad. Especially considering how I noted in the OP that I'm only a year old competitively, and only know a few names and the classes they belong to because of that. Not to mention the people who played multiple classes. (Mackey, b4nny, Harbleu, Platinum) there's probably a much better way to do this in all honesty.

thesupremecommanderI think that, in order to have a "proper" HoF, it might be advisable to put restrictions on what players can be inducted. Most people will automatically think of players who are currently playing to induct, but a Hall of Fame should focus more on past players who have made a great impact on the game, and the way that it is often done is by requiring nominated players to have been retired for a certain amount of time before they are eligible for consideration. Something like 3 seasons or so.

this ^

maybe have a commitie nominate 10 players and make it a vote only 5 players go in...

Im against this hall of fame, the way it's set up. I think it should align more with the way NHL, NFL etc hall of fames work. Has to be retired, has to be elite. No platinums/clockworks/b4nnys/shades, instead stars who are gone, Mike after this season, Numlocked, YZ50 etc. I personally feel being a current star shouldn't make you a HOFer, for the NFL, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are two of the best QBs in the nfl, they're considered locks for the NFL Hall of fame, but they aren't in it already. This should work the way of a sports HOF:

Small committee chooses 4 per year, so for tf2, something like...idk the casters choose? Salamancer, CBear, Bloodsire, and Marxist? They have great insight into the games, and could be good people for the committee. Being as this is an ESport, I realize people don't quit as frequently, but if after every season, the committee chose 4 (Or less if they feel there weren't worthy candidates). This makes the HOF an
elite, exclusive group to be in, and makes the induction more meaningful.

For something that should be prestigious, it feels wrong to have the community building a massive list, it doesn't feel official.

Maybe it's just from my view as a major sports fan, but it doing it the way it's going now feels wrong.

It's a decent idea however at the moment all this thread is, is a bunch of people typing names of the best/most famous/popular figures in the community they can think of and then some guy adding the suggestions to a spreadsheet / list.

What you need is:

1) A panel of representatives from every corner of the community with suitable backgrounds ~(casters/writers/admins/promoters/streamers/top players and such) to be trusted to select/nominate inductees for many different categories.

2) Different categories to represent different parts of the competitive communities. You can have North American 6v6, Highlander, EU scene, Australian scene, Asian scene, South American scene, African scene if there is one? Or keep it simple - 6v6 inductees, Highlander inductees, Teams inductees, contributor inductees?

3) A Rule, tagline, guidelines...etc in order to be inducted. For example "players who have had major success and influence in the game". Or "Teams who have had major success, important impact or influence in the game". Or for contributors - "community members who have contributed massively to the development and ongoing success of the competitive scene". Something like that for the panel to work from. Maybe something like "person must have playing/active in TF2 for at least 2 years" or something before they can be inducted.

4) Somewhere for the hall of fame to be displayed - as suggested comp.tf would be a great place to stick a page, you can then expand on it and have pages/stubs for the people in it. Actually make it a place people want to visit.

This sort of organisation would make it worthwhile however such a thing would take a lot of effort of organise and I doubt you will find many people willing to do all of this (or executing something similar in an intelligent way).

African scene?
Hmm no I don't think their 2g phone internet really sets them up for competitive gaming

Anyway yeah basically this is cool and maybe could be done officially by each league and/or tied in to i52/55 etc

I know in Australia each season ends with the best players in the top div on each class voted for and announced as "all-Australians" so people like bowt, yuki, termo, povohat, bulk, sheep etc already have that recognition, maybe similar stuff could be done in each league

I know there is a TF2 South African scene or there was at one point. Also Egypt have had a team in ETF2L and the Nations Cup. Your racism has failed.
