People in this community still care about things and aren't jaded pieces of shit

So it's refreshing.

There's no other game that gives me the same satisfaction when doing well in a team setting or improving as a group of friends. Seeing the progress made in a serious team after a lot of work is very fun for me. That and I have met a lot of people that I really get along with while playing and those people make me want to stick around.

Because the combination of movement and aim for the different classes is very unique and fun.
Rocketjumping, sticky jumping, double jumping and rocket surfing gives the game so much variety and combining it properly with aim/dm leads to incredibly satisfying combat.

The game is also very fast in competetive play which means you constantly have to adapt on the fly and improvise a lot making it less stagnant than cs for example.

The community is also pretty decent compared to other games :D

manaIt's a combination of a couple things for me.

- Teammates and hanging out with them
- Skill ceiling individually + as a team
- I personally think the design of 6v6 is very elegant and good, and I continue playing so I can fully comprehend the whole thing. I keep learning how this game works, every scrim, every review, every match. I like having that knowledge.
- I want to frag enigma one day
- This community is small; if I manage to do work for it, it has a huge impact. That is pretty cool.
- Casts are amazing. It's a very watchable game.
- Meeting people in this community in real life has been incredibly fun and rewarding. If you ever see eXtv's interview with Tyrone at i46 he talks about how mackey and he are pretty different people but also both play TF2.
- 6v6 itself is really fun to play. There's really nothing quite like it, and the fact that athe community is the one to have formed it and refined it is practically unheard of.

There's more stuff, maybe, but I haven't found it to be a waste of time at all.

THATS LIKE 10 THINGS, A COUPLE IS TWO THINGS.

wareyaquake is dead

Pretty much. This is the only fps around with a comp scene that has some semblance of skill based movement and arena shooter mechanics. Although my interest has been waning recently.

I like TF2 and play for a lot of reasons.

-It was easy to pick up but hard to get good at (similar to what got me into competitive smash).
-Really cool movement.
-Each class is expressly different.
-I thought and still think the medic is a really cool class.
-A variety of game modes.
-Only two other games have given me laughs after three years of playing it from the silly shit that can happen.
-Having a team you like playing with is magical.
-I know I still have a lot I can get better at.
-Even when I'm somewhat bored with playing, I can mess around with scripting or HUD editing to tweak the user experience more to my liking.
-I've met a lot of cool people through playing a video game.
-I can play it almost whenever I want to.
-As much as I complain about sniper as a class, he's still less stupid than sniper rifles in most other FPS games.

Competitively:

All of the great friends I've made. Playing with a group of people you enjoy talking with and understands your play-style can make a world of difference. That's the main reason i still play in leagues from time to time. There is still a satisfaction winning a game with a group of people that really feel like a team. Also i'm old, but i still love to have a competitive drive - since i don't play sports anymore, i can channel that through games whenever i want. For me, TF2 has been more satisfying in that aspect than any other recent game I've played over the past 7 years.

For Funsies:

Seriously, 32 man instant respawn pubs will never get old to me. I will do this until the game dies. It's just fun...the chaos and constant targets just make for a good time. Plus playing engineer is the best thing ever.

Might be because when you lose, you don't know exactly what went wrong? I rage at every new game I play until I realize how the game works. Like, how you have o keep up in farm in dota, or you have to get lucky in hearthstone.

The thing I love about Dota though is that I can start up a random game of it, and expect 4 random people to want to win as much as you do. I don't have much time for comp tf2, and no one tries in pubs.

Because its like playing a lot of different games at once. All kinds of flavors of maps, 9 unique classes, and a lot of variation within those classes with the different weapons. Its the only game I know of with two different competitive formats, plus casual pub play.

Also no other active fps interest me except for CSGO but I can't bring myself to play it over TF2 so I never do.

honestly it's like 9 different games in one, that's why - each class is so dynamically different, it's hard to get bored when you pick a different class and your whole mentality and playstyle has to change in order to fit that classes' needs to do well. Honestly, there could be a whole game based on spy, based on soldier, based on scout, but no, it's in one whole online experience. Also, the constant updates and ironclad community support is nice too.

The Team Fortress series in general is pretty much my childhood when it comes to computer games along with The Legend of Zelda series when it comes to console games. TF2 is obviously greatly different from TFC and, of course, QWTF, but still, a lot of the class-based shooter elements that were done correctly, as well as even more teamwork being emphasized in TF2, keeps me glued to this very day.

Plus, it's always nice to be a part of a competitive community again and constantly working on improvement while having good fun.

You can do many different things in tf2 that arent like any other fps (variety.) One minute I can be scrimming and playing mge, then playing some random custom game mode or playing any other of the 8 classes.
