Just want to bump this thread to remind everyone that there are just 10 days left of team registration for CEVO Season 5 before we release the first preseason schedules. If you have any questions about the upcoming season, feel free to post them below and Lange and I will do our best to reply here.

Is there any possibility of an extension?

Because we have a hard stop for theGXL LAN (Oct 10th-12th) we won't be able to delay the season at all. We will allow teams to continue to register throughout the preseason though, so I guess that's like an extension!

Can ringers be used in preseason, or would that not work?

If not, is there any penalty for forfeiting preseason matches?

Ringers are never allowed, all players must be rostered and paid.

Preseason matches are optional. Though if you plan of FFL'ing both of them, you may want to submit a ticket just to let someone know that your team is indeed alive and planning on playing the regular season.

Hi everyone,

Since CEVO|Lange is away this week, I figured I should provide a general update on CEVO TF2 Season 5 as the time to complete registration is quickly running out.

As of this AM there have been 122 payments in Season 5 for a total of $2,494.00. Our s5 prize pool of $8,146.00 isn't affected by this season's slow registration as it's guaranteed and will be given out regardless of how many teams register, but we determine our future season's prize pool based on the league fees from the previous season, so at this rate it doesn't look like we'll be able to sustain this type of prize pool in s6 :(

At the end of the night on Thursday, July 10th we'll be moving all "Ready" teams to the regular season, and after this date, rosters will remain open for players to join/leave teams, but new teams won't be able to register.

So far there are 5/45 "Ready" teams in the Open division, 0/22 "Ready" teams in the Main division, and 0/9 "Ready" teams in the Professional division. If you are on a team that was in the process of applying for Main division moveup, you will need to open a ticket to continue that process.

In an effort to be totally transparent, when the team registration period closes at the end of the night on Thursday, July 10th if there aren't at least 16 "Ready" teams in the Main division we'll be merging the Open/Main divisions and adjusting the prize pool distribution to the following:

Professional Division (75%) - $6,109.50
Open Division (25%) - $2,036.50

Refunds will be available to anyone who requests one through our support system (http://cevo.com/support) until the regular season begins on July 11th.

As always if you have any questions about CEVO or Season 5, feel free to post them below and I'll do my best to get back to you as quickly as I can.

If you haven't registered already but still want to compete in Season 5, you can sign up HERE!

Thanks,

Just curious, is the prize pool for a season equal to the fees from the previous season (+crowdfunding) or does CEVO also contribute?

freakinJust curious, is the prize pool for a season equal to the fees from the previous season or does CEVO also contribute?

This season's prize pool is made up of 100% of the previous season's league fees + crowdfunding. We don't keep anything for the company other than the transaction fees that PayPal charges us to process the payments and pay out the winners.

We don't contribute anything over and above the league fees that we bring in during the previous season, but CEVO takes a loss regardless of how many teams register to cover the costs associated with hosting the website, league operations, LAN costs, etc..

We're extending automatic invites to the s5 Professional Division for all current ESEA-Invite teams, so if you contact me privately or create a ticket at http://cevo.com/support we'll move your team up if you decide to play in CEVO this season.

To be fair, every single summer season has less teams/players than the others. This season will likely be no different.

I'd also like to remind people that to have your team considered ready, you must have 6 players with their fees paid AND have their Steam ID's linked to their account.

I have noticed that a few teams have players that are paid, but have not linked their Steam IDs to their profiles.

I know its likely too late for CEVO to do this, but my advice, is just have 1 league match per week. Preferably on a fixed night, such as Sunday. Have the map pool synch with ESEA. Everyone would then know Sunday is Cevo and the map continuity would allow teams to play without a hitch.

As it stands now, at least amongst the people I talk to, 4 matches a week is too difficult to schedule/play. Most people do not want to. So my team will likely not re-sign up for CEVO barring something drastic changing in the next 48 hours, primarily because the time commitment. I think CEVO has a good thing going, but should build a bit slower, and this would allow for it, instead of just going heads up with ESEA.

Justifying the sign up cost by cutting away half the matches is a hard thing to do. I know 4 matches a week can really tie a team's schedule down but for teams that only play cevo this is one less reason to take the league seriously.

Ideally each league would run in the other league's off season. Until then CEVO and ESEA will just have to struggle with fitting in matches for teams that play in both leagues.

so do cevo-a (or o, w/e it is) 2 matches a week, and above that 1 match per week. most cevo-m/p teams are in esea, so i cant really see the upper leagues in cevo complaining about too few matches for the cost.

I like the fixed night + one match a week idea too. Honestly, not sure if we'll be signing up for both. Scheduling for both was pretty hard. On the bright side, this season no one is playing in highlander so we got that going for us. :)

After ESEA's latest registration extension it doesn't look like we're going to be able to mirror their s17 map rotation + whitelist for the start of our season. We've reached out to Killing a few times over the past couple weeks, but they don't have anything ready to share with us yet. We're going to try and make changes to our map rotation/whitelist mid season to sync up with theirs as best we can, but we didn't feel like it was fair to the teams who are only playing in CEVO to hold off any longer.

As I mentioned in a few posts above, we're going to be moving "Ready" teams over to the regular season at the end of the night on Thursday, July 10th (tomorrow), and only teams who have at least 6 "Ready" players will be scheduled Week 1 regular season matches. Since my post in this thread yesterday, we've had 40 additional players "ready" up, so with another strong final two days of team registration there's still hope for a solid season!

All of the staff at CEVO continue to be completely committed to Team Fortress 2, and I think it's fair to say that we've come a long way in terms of knocking off the vast majority of the community's concerns & requests since our initial community meetings at the beginning of Season 4 (LAN finals, match statistics, automated match mod, larger prize pools, additional skill divisions, etc..).

We're doing our best to support the competitive TF2 community and provide a dependable place for you to compete, but we won't be able to continue to allocate our limited resources to the game without your team's support.

Season 5 Map Rotation:
Week 1: cp_snakewater_final1
Week 2: cp_process_final
Week 3: cp_granary
Week 4: cp_gullywash_final1
Week 5: cp_badlands
Week 6: cp_metalworks_rc5
Week 7: koth_pro_viaduct_rc4
Week 8: koth_coalplant_b7

Season 5 Whitelist:
We're going to hold off on making changes to our whitelist until Lange returns on July 12th, but in the mean time, we'll stick with exactly what we used last season. Links to the files are below.

MangachuWhy wasn't there a map poll for this season?

We were under the impression that we were going to be using the same rotation as ESEA s17 at the request of quite a few of our players. Unfortunately, we didn't find out until Tuesday of this week that they would be extending their season and thus our regular season would be starting before theirs, we didn't have enough time to hold a proper poll, so we announced the same map pool that we used last season in a different order.

Like I mentioned previously, if ESEA does release their rotation some time soon, we'll do our best to sync with theirs to make it easier on the teams playing in both leagues.
