My question is if there is any way to make the source SDK tool's captioncompiler.exe work to create tf2 custom closed captions, because i followed the instructions on the steam support page but when i drag the closecaption_english.txt file into the captioncompiler.exe under the source 2009 folder it doesn't create a .dat file.(i also tried with orangebox folder)
Can someone that has been able to compile the .txt file help me with this issue, i could send my custom .txt file via steam.

Ok so i finally managed to compile the file, i've been doing this wrong the entire time but for everyone who is wondering and having the same issue i replaced the two .dat and .txt file under tf/resource for my custom .txt, then instead of using the SDK's source2009 folder like the tutorial says, i used the Team Fortress 2\bin captioncompiler.exe. So you don't really need to use Source SKD tools to compile.
Hope this helps.
