Alright so I'll bump this thread instead of creating a new one.
I did some benchmarks today and noticed some really weird behaviour.
First of all, my specs:

CPU and overclock: 3770K @ 4.2 GHz
Graphics Card: GTX 670

Driver version: 337.50
dxlevel: see below
Resolution: 1920x1080
Full-screen or windowed: Full
FPS configs enabled: m0re's highframes
Shadows enabled/disabled: disabled

So I used dx_level 90 in the first test I did

2639 frames 15.574 seconds 169.45 fps ( 5.90 ms/f) 10.153 fps variability

Then I tested it on dx_level 81

2639 frames 13.921 seconds 189.57 fps ( 5.28 ms/f) 12.324 fps variability

So far nothing unusual right? Well now the weird part begins. I then tried some tests with very low resolutions(didn't give me any fps increase in the end btw) and instantly noticed a significant fps increase on both dx levels. I tried to replicate those results after restarting tf2 but for some reason that seemed to be impossible. After a couple minutes of thinking I finally figured it out:

It was the netgraph.

So I replicated both test from above with the exact same conditions(1080p res as well) and ended up with an astonishing result:

DX90

2639 frames 14.342 seconds 184.00 fps ( 5.43 ms/f) 10.438 fps variability

DX81

2639 frames 12.682 seconds 208.10 fps ( 4.81 ms/f) 12.937 fps variability

So basically setting my net_graph from 3 to 0 increased my average fps by about 15 on both dx levels. I'm not really sure whether this is a demo bug or not. Thoughts?

people use net_graph 3? in either case, set it to net_graph 3 and do 3 benchmarks and get an avg, then set to 0 and do another 3 and take the avg, then repeat step 1 and do net_graph 3 benches again and take the avg and see what you come up with

my terrible guess is that tf2 is optimizing some part of the process and that the difference you have described is a result of that optimization. i would imagine there is some penalty for running net_graph 1. i agree, though, 15 fps is a bit high

Alright did some more tests.

Average fps on dx9 with net_graph 3 (3 tests): 167
Average fps on dx9 with net_graph 0 (3 tests): 184
Average fps on dx8 with net_graph 3 (3 tests): 190
Average fps on dx8 with net_graph 0 (3 tests): 205

The results do not change if I set net_graph to 3 again after I tested it with 0.

Holy shit. How can that be? It's worth also testing cl_showfps 1 and I guess net_graph 1. I never thought that this was possible... I guess it's better not to run that stuff

I just tested it real quick(and only on dx8) so those results might be not too accurate:

Average fps on dx8 with net_graph 1: 197
Average fps on dx8 with cl_showfps 1: 204

So basically cl_showfps doesn't seem to affect fps and net_graph 1 does, although not as bad as net_graph 3

It'd be really cool if somebody who posted their benchmarks in this thread previously could do it again to see how much the new patch helps with fps.

same config.
before: 65fps
now: 60fps.

'before' is 1/2 of a year though so I don't exactly have a before update / after update

So, well. It got worse long-term.

CPU, clock and graphics card is same as before: Athlon II x4 3.5GHz, HD7950.

Under normal settings, I get 131 FPS on this demo. With Harbl's No Hats Mod, I get 142 FPS. Pretty sweet.
In addition, turning on dx8 and highframes gave 161

Reinstalled windows a few weeks ago. About a week ago I was hitting 147fps in benchmark (compared to 120fps on the 31st December 2013), not launched the game since the update today. I've been using the same graphical config and settings. About to benchmark again.

EDIT: 2639 frames 16.688 seconds 158.14 fps ( 6.32 ms/f) 7.474 fps variability

This means:
December 2013 - 120fps
August 2014 - 147fps
September 2014 - 158fps

The last update improved performance a bit on OS X. I don't have the exact results saved but last I timed this demo a month or two ago I got ~105 fps with maxframes.

With maxframes:
2639 frames 22.619 seconds 116.67 fps ( 8.57 ms/f) 6.399 fps variability

With maxquality:
2639 frames 36.369 seconds 72.56 fps (13.78 ms/f) 8.687 fps variability

CPU: i7-3720QM @ 2.6 GHz
GPU: GeForce GT 650M
OpenGL, fullscreen @ 1440x900

I kinda thought it would be better than that to be honest

I actually had one more fps with Aero enabled without Rhapsody's config.
Also, for some reason, when I removed Rhapsody's config, the demo looked like this - so the broken / lack of motion might just be the difference in frames? Has anyone else experienced this?
