Reasonerwhat's the official reason ?

we followed the rules and even gave them 3 extra minutes to unpause, but snowblind thinks we should have contacted him even though we followed the rules and gave them a 5min, 3min, 1min, and 5 second warning for the unpause. he said "The rules are not set in stone and subject to my interpreation on a case by case basis" but oh well, gl GC.

Also known as, because MF9000 can't get over the fact that they're middle-schoolers still upset they couldn't play on Sunday against GC on Viaduct to use b4nny. Also, Chimpfeet has high level 6's experience on Medic (nice work on using smaka instead LOL) and there was no need to ask for a Medic in the first place, stabby's a tool and the rest of UGC is now starting to realize this.

FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW WHATS HAPPENING
Kapoww: what is this mf9k thing that everyone is mad about
λrgo: gc mf9k was 1-1 and gc was pushing in the final round and 3 of them crashed. murderforce denied them ringers, forced an unpause after like 3 minutes, and made them pay 8v9 for the last like 5 minutes.
λrgo: @_@

tl dr version

During the last round of the plat lower bracket finals, three players (Grape, Acooma, and Pulse) of Gentlemen's Club crashed. Pause happened and GC pulled in 2 subs but couldn't get a third in before an unpause (allegedly by mf2k?) so they played the last round 8v9 for about half of a round.

Also, grape's building got flooded.

First match of playoffs vhalin tells us we can use a ringer. We want to play on sunday so we can play with banny demo and ruwin med (worth a try). vhalin gets so offended by this that he changes his mind about us using ringers at all on monday. when it comes to the match shrugger is unable to play due to technical problems, so we play with a very different roster and lose (not saying we would have won with our full roster, but vhalin gayed us pretty hard). oh well nothing we can do about it, we play through lower bracket and do waaay better than we expected to (beating two teams we never beat pretty handily) and letting DRS use a ringer against us (but they let us pause a lot because our med lagged out so its w/e). we're pretty happy that we get to play GC again because we want to beat them. its a very close match, and unfortunately at the very last halfround some of their players get timed out/grape had to leave due to a flood in his building. the ugc rules say they get one 5 min pause. we waited 8 mins for them to get ringers (giving them time warnings along the way) then we unpause after they took up too much time (we also did not let them get ringers because we were still not happy about how vhalin dealt with us in our prior match). we did not contact an admin because there were pretty specific rules in the rule page. GC does not think what we did was fair so they contact the admins and snowblind overturns the round saying the rules are not set in stone and are up to his discretion. thats it p much

edit: to clarify, it was an 8 min pause, not 3

Basically you followed the rules to gay over a team because you felt like you had been gayed over before. Makes sense, I woulda done the same thing because I'm also pretty gay.

You forgot the best part, the team they gayed over didn't even have the major gayer from the initial incident in the match, and the gayed from the initial incident were within seconds of losing even with the return of gaydom.

I mean, Dicks in Butts is alright by me, so I'm hoping for the gayening 3.0 upcoming.

I'm pretty sure UGC rules don't really exist, they're just arbitrary decisions by admins who may or may not be too lazy to enforce/change their own rules.

imo, play with as much sportsmanship as you can, but if a team fucks you over, fuck them back.

ugc rules3.7.b. Server Pauses Each team is allowed one server pause per round (2 per match) to deal with unexpected player drops from technical issues ONLY or to deal with a server-wide connection issue. Each team is allowed 1 pause in an Overtime round. You are not allowed to use pause as a timeout, or for minor player connection issues. Leaders must ALWAYS announce the need for a server pause BEFORE pausing, communicating the reason for it, and ONLY leaders are allowed to pause a server during a match. It is also the responsibility of the team leader to announce UNPAUSING the server at least 15 seconds prior to doing so. A pause may last up to a maximum of 5 minutes. Do not abuse this command.

8.6. Administrators have the last word in all disputes. Arguing with their decision will result in a 2-week suspension.

You can get suspended for arguing that they followed the rules. LOL

ugc rules12.2. In addition, admins may enforce map specific or general Rules at any time during the season. These Rules will be posted by the administrators on the main news page of the league. As long as these Rules are either on the news page or the Rules page, they WILL be enforced.

12.3. We at UGC reserve the right to interpret all of the Rules set forth on this page as we see fit in each situation, independent of each other. They should be clear enough, but in the event that there is some confusion about what a rule means or how it applies in a given situation, please ask an admin to clarify it BEFORE you break it. We will no longer accept any excuses that a rule was too unclear.

Biggest bummer is that it was such a goddamn good match up until the pause, it would've been nice to see it play out without any of the drama.

Hopefully the rematch is as exciting.

Hm... I have to sound off about this...

On one hand, I definitely understand the perspective of MF9k players in regards to their adherence to the rules, on the other hand, it was definitely disappointing for us (the casters and the audience) to get to the penultimate round, then have it be ruined by GC's sudden loss of 3 players. Dunno what happened with Acooma and Pulse, but its definitely disappointing that MF9K didn't want to concede waiting a few eXtra minutes to settle this match 9v9.

That said, I also feel like MF9k acted completely within the framework of the league in regards to how they treated the situation. Don't get me wrong, it's a shitty situation, but MF9k don't have to allow a ringer and don't have to allow a pause longer than 5 minutes. Those are the rules written by UGC. While MF9k's stance does seem slightly spiteful, they are well within their rights as they are laid out by the league.

The sportsmanship behavior clause in the rules doesn't really contain enough specifics to apply here. No racial or homophobic slurs were used and the rest of the issues outlined don't apply. Even if you feel like this was bad sportsmanship, I don't think there is a legitimate argument to punish MF9K here since everything they did was well within the rules. The banter post-match went both ways, GC were obviously upset but MF9K replying with "that's karma" isn't inflammatory enough to disregard results that were otherwise legitimate.

I feel bad for GC here and I know that MF9K dealt them a bad hand, but MF9K followed the rules to a T. Even if you consider it rude, their actions are justified under the rule-set.

UGC's 12.3 rule does essentially say they can disregard any of their rules as they see fit, but I have to admit that I am disappointed to see this rule be used under these circumstances.

I appreciate everything UGC has done to improve this season and the hard work they've put into everything, but I don't agree with this decision. They say fairness is what they're after, but punishing a team that followed the rules that as they are laid out by partially overturning a result doesn't seem fair at all.

Might vlog about it because I feel like this is an important issue for the entire community to air out, but we'll see if I have time tomorrow morning.

I'm dissapointed in how MF9K handled this and I'm dissapointed in how UGC handled this :/

i pretty much completely disagree here and for more reasons than just the fact that my team is the one that got fucked here.

too many people put too much time into this game for an admin to not intervene when a team in playoffs has as bad luck as we did with simply getting players to the match, especially considering it was the final round and we had put up a good defense.

they are not being punished, if they deserve the win they will earn it during the rematch, but simply saying "too bad" when a team has unforeseeable issues that stop them from playing mid-match is a terrible terrible way to run a league and I commend the ugc admin responsible for making what is apparently an unpopular decision to help uphold the integrity of the league and the effort required to compete at the top of it.

this is a very different situation from not rescheduling a match to a more convenient time for them and less convenient time for us, or allowing a ringer for a class that could be filled by a rostered player who mained the class at an invite level but got benched because they didnt feel he was good enough. They had days to prepare and find a suitable substitute for one player, we were given just over 5 minutes for 3.

the clause about admin interpretation superseding all written rules is in there specifically to deal with things like forfeit-win hunting because it undermines the point of even competing in a league to begin with.

tl;dr for you extine, the ugc admin decided that he wants the winners of the league to reflect the best teams, not the teams who can abuse the rules the best

In matches of importance: any playoff match — possibly a last match of the season in which playoff implications are on the line — any pause time rule (in any league) should be suspended. I get no one wants to wait 20 mins for a team to get a ringer in week 5 of a season, but when the integrity of the season is on the line, it should just be tough cookie for them. It doesn't help anyone anywhere to win or lose in this way. Wait extra, postpone the round to another date/time, whatever . . . just get that bad boy played. This should be the policy for every league lacking a LAN playoff tournament in which such issues do not happen.
