visitnigGot into econ for UCSB, too bad transfer applications aren't due for at least two or months for privates. And honestly don't worry about what college you get into, because as cliche as it sounds, its what you do that will count. I've personally friend who went to a barely top 50 school and still got a position at Goldman Sachs along with other elite finance firms where the acceptance rate is much lower than Harvard(2% vs 6%) and had to beat multiple 4.0 Ivy students during the interview process. But nonetheless, congrats to everyone on getting in.

Yeah don't take this shit too seriously, I go to University of Maryland which is only ranked 62nd in the country (although 23rd in engineering and 10th in my major, aerospace engineering; it is still less prestigious than stanford and the likes). I have absolutely no regrets as I will still be graduating with a decent degree, a good resume, and very little debt (relative to everybody I know that goes to out of state or private schools - and I'm spending an extra semester in school). Fuck student loan debt.

It matters more in business fields but there are plenty of big names in business from plenty of less prestigious schools

jealous of all you undergrads. Congrats to everyone getting places.

Currently losing sleep over PhD applications, but I have one conditional offer already. However, the real battle is getting funding.

I just got an acceptance letter from La Salle in Philly. I should be hearing back from my top two (Suffolk and Emmanuel, both in Boston) in the next few days since I applied early action to those.

MIT's application is pretty lengthy. Tons of stuff you have to write about, your own studies, personal and relationships with others. Get the chance to interview an MIT grad and it'll really help you get in. Also, what to expect in the pass/fail semester they have for the first year you're there.

If there is one thing I personally regretted in high school, it would've been not studying nearly as hard for the PSAT as I did for the SAT because the PSAT is the one that actually gets you scholarships, really really wished someone told me that ahead of time. That and also not applying enough scholarships during senior year just due to laziness, because honestly, what else do you actually have going on senior year besides applications and writing essays anyways? Its literally just free money.

Well, that is a bit of a half truth. The SAT qualifies you for merit aid, and it qualifies you for National merit scholarships. Not to mention all the other non-collegeboard programs that offer scholarships based on GPA and SAT scores. PSAT does give you a few opportunities, but not as many as you would think.

I have tried to stay off of Facebook, because my best friend got deferred, and I don't want him to feel bad. That said, I wanted to share with someone.

What are your results? Where are you headed? Celebrate! Be happy! Perhaps, with enough TF2 players, we could meet up for a LAN in college.

Here's to all the seniors in high school! Best of luck in college.

Sadly, I didn't get into Stanford, but I am waiting for a decision from Michigan. I want to go to school for engineering. Congrats shredder!

ya'll shouldn't write off private universities. for me many of them were less expensive than large public schools because of financial aid, even though the sticker price is like $50,000+.

obviously the large schools like NYU have legions of rich parents lining up to pay, but many smaller private schools are very flexible with financial aid.

dont get into debt in your undergrad, it blows.

jake_Applied to a bunch of small private liberal arts schools in the midwest and pacific northwest.

A few (4-5) of my friends got accepted early to Harvard like yesterday or something so that was pretty sick lol.

If you have any questions about the cultures at different PNW LACs hit me up.

Every college of mine barring WashU had supplements, so I've been getting yelled at for weeks to get them done. I still have a 400-650 word essay for UPenn, and I still have to edit apps for Northwestern, and Johns Hopkins.
Thankfully two of my schools aren't due until the 10th/15th.

Accepted to University of Georgia and Georgia Tech for in-state options (free money is pretty great) but Northwestern Univ. is by far my first choice. Still waiting, considering app. deadline is tomorrow. Should hear from the School of Music before too long though! :) Hoping for the best...

Georgia Tech is an awesome setup. I was accepted there and I was seriously considering taking the offer.

What is your major?
