neeko_also, have you ever got rapha or dahang to try 6's tf2?

DaHanG asked me to teach him/play around season 6 I believe. He prefers playing on teams than dueling, but that's all that's popular in Quake competitively. He played a few scrims/pubs as scout, he did pretty good. Then QuakeCon announced CTF so he got his teamplay fill, and he was busy with school so he didn't want to split his time between multiple games.

erkstonis pyro viable

I think pyro airblast is broken. Not sure why teams don't pocket a pyro for uber vs uber defensively the majority of the time, but I refuse to do it - same reason I didn't use Bonk or play Heavy.

zigzterOf the frag movies you made, do you have a favourite, or one that was the most fun to work on? (or both)

I think 'zis is rapha' is my best video. I think the flow/pacing/sync was done well, I just make frag videos that I like to watch. I'm not impressed by a ton of effects, I like to do a bunch of subtle/smooth things throughout the video that make it feel like they were meant to be together. I also really try to avoid using fast forward, slow motion to sync stuff, this helps with the feeling that the clips/song were meant for each other rather than forced (see: the second example I give below). To me it's like putting together a puzzle, finding when/where to put clips in the song. I spend a lot of time trying to put everything in the correct order to match the type of frag/cam with the tempo of the song, sync, etc.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojR_qedzzK8

I think 2:00 to roughly 3:00 or so is a good example, everything has a purpose - all the transitions are smooth..even the lyrics "what did you expect to find..?" right as he turns the corner to see cypher, just subtle stuff.

Another example is the clip at 5:02. The song settles down into first person, then syncs the first rail, the pacing of the song picks up when he rocket jumps to chase for a kill, syncs on the second rocket jump and a sync on the rail kill.

That's probably a much more elaborate answer than you wanted, but I'm done rambling now.

LionxjustinLionxWhat was it like at your first LAN?
Do you mean ESEA? If so, specify and I'll answer.

Yeah I meant ESEA LAN but that other answer was good.

My first ESEA LAN was fun, it was really interesting meeting so many people you knew but have never seen, all at once. Kermit dodged hours before our flights, so we posted a thread on gotfrag asking if anyone in Dallas could play. Some young stud named Dante 'shade' Funari answered the call and the rest is history. I think all the players at the first LAN were: cyzer, casey, reptile, davis(rip destro), phelon, syckness, oplaid, pokey, seagull, sequel, dummy, grieve, justin, fanom, shade, tlr, ww, fragile, carnage, animeman, relic, pyyyyour, solidsnake, jaeger. 2/24 players still play invite, rip.

hooliWhat are some commonly overlooked qualities that are required to be one of the best players?

That's too broad of a question to answer, if you want to know about a specific class, it would help me narrow it down.

As far as becoming one of the best players, I think it's really important to have a knowledge of all the classes, playing them at a high competitive level, not just pubbing/pugging. All of the best players in the game could play invite on any class. I also think quality is more important than quantity. I barely have over 2,000 hours on this game, but it's probably 70% invite scrims/matches, 20% pubs/pugs, 10% idling hats. I think I have a good understanding of the game because of this, and more time spent would just be getting my aim to where it can be, which I don't because I'm lazy and like riding others coattails. :>

I watch hockey, rugby and soccer. Broncos vs Eagles would probably be the most entertaining though.

leakyConsistency tips for scout?

The best way to be consistent is to execute things you have complete control over correctly, e.g. hitting tab a lot, keeping track of ubers, good comms - not useless white noise. Also, I think anticipation is the most important aspect of the game, it applies to everything.

Air_favorite single player game you've ever played?

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time..I probably beat that game 3-4 times in middle school. As far as PC goes, I really don't play single player games. I beat Quake 1, Quake 2, Half Life 2, Portal, Battlefield 4..I think that might be it.

defyfavorite kind of food? do you live close to goose island? if so can you send me bourbon county variants? god bless

Seafood, I ate like a king on my trip to Boston. I live really close to Goose Island, I don't drink it as often as I used to because they were bought out by Anheuser Busch. You should try out pretty much anything from Lagunitas, Half Acre, New Glarus, Pipeworks, Two Brothers, Revolution..

bagelDo you sign weapons? Will you be playing on a team in the future? (sorry if these are asked already)

I always sign weapons, anyone can add me. I answered earlier about playing in the future, you can read the previous posts if you'd like to know - and check out my dog.

Strengths: At the risk of sounding conceited, I think I'm a relatively intelligent guy.
Weaknesses: Balancing my competitive nature with a casual and teetering apathetic approach to video games, or at least the outcome.

gewtWho's your favorite TF2 teammate you've played with and why?

I couldn't pick one, I've had a blast at every LAN I've attended with all my teammates. So rather than pick a favorite teammate, I'll just say Season 6 and Season 13 were probably the most fun I had at LAN. Also, TheFragile came to chicago last month for a weekend, good times. Here's a picture I took of him at the top of the Willis Tower, 1400 feet.

I watch every game, I try to get to a few each year - been to three this season. I haven't been to a playoff game since 2009, they're expensive. Sharp is great, last night was fun to watch - surprised Roy didn't pull Giguere sooner considering the hissy fit he threw in Montreal. Also, would be tragic if Sharp isn't in Sochi, he deserves a spot.

DNJwhat is the best tf2 match you've ever watched/played in?

what is the best quake live duel you've ever watched/played in?

Too many to pick one. I will say that by far the most entertaining tf2 matches are on koth and a/d style maps. I think on every single push map all the same rules apply, there's no real varying strategy or unique style - scrimming becomes boring/redundant. Badlands: go valley or house -> push side of spire/climb spire -> push lower main/upper left into last. It's been that day since day one and not much has changed, very rare to offclass, etc. I think if you had to cap gravelpit in order A -> B-> C it would be more interesting and decrease the luck factor.

Same goes for Quake, too many to pick. I think the most entertaining tournament was at Quakecon in 2007. It was called Quad Damage, check it out on youtube.

What do you think about the current state of quake?
Did rapha ever try tf2,what games is he currently playin?
Which games are you currently playing other than tf2?

Quake suffers from two big problems: Skill ceiling and player base spread across multiple quakes/mods/knockoff games. I'm not sure if rapha ever tried tf2, he likely has very briefly. I don't know what he's playing, I know that most of the Quake players just train for about 2 weeks or so before a big LAN and then barely play between then, if at all. I play BF4, that's about it.

kaneWhy did ww- quit?

He was bored of the game, not much has changed in TF2. Having a serious look at class restrictions/unlocks/map rotation is more important than people think. Lots of top players are quitting, and while other players can always slide in to give the appearance of stability at the highest level, they aren't really filling their shoes.
