Currently a Computer Science major, but I'm sticking around for an extra year to get a Masters in Computer Engineering.

But I'm bad at programming.

Used to do Computer Science, but I'm switching to English starting this semester because I found out I was shit at writing code but pretty good at writing words.

DeathanchorNetworking and Security Engineering master race.

As someone who spent time in the Engineering school at my college and roomed with two other engineering majors, I can say that they're all pretty much this pretentious about their major.

Computer science with a focus in software engineering. Probably going to do a math minor because I only have to take a couple of extra classes for that.

P.S. I'm so sick of that 'god tier' shit.

Went to Community College for Communications and now I'm transferring to university for Media Production this semester. I currently work at a local radio station doing promotions (eventually board op) after being hired through a Summer internship! I'd like to work in television eventually and I'm trying to get an internship with a local news network for next Summer.

As a brit, can someone explain how the major/minor system works? It's not the same over here.

Basically a Major is what you'll get your degree in. So you'll have a bachelors of Science of a Bachelors of Arts in whatever subject you're majoring in. Minoring is an associates (2) year degree in that particular subject. Some types of major also only offer a Baccalaureate.

It's the short hand way of saying what your degree focuses on.

a minor is just taking a certain set of related elective courses on the subject while going for a 4 year degree

Was initially pre-med with the hopes of becoming a pathologist, but my real interest ended up being in research. Microbiology major with a French minor.

When this thread has run its course, one of you computer people should make a chart of which majors are the most popular among TF2 players. There's certainly an interesting spread. Personally, I was a double major in Political Science and Philosophy, currently pursuing a PhD in American Studies.
