It has been in the works for years and years (well, for a year) but now the final cut is ready to release! The eXtv i46 documentation about the journey of two American teams to dominate the European TF2 scene will be available for FREE in full HD on Youtube. If you want to support the creators, you can also buy a higher quality 50FPS version on VHX.

You can pre-order the VHX digital download HFR 50FPS video for only $5 now on the eXtv site! The release of the VHX version is Friday, August 9th, at 4:00 AM EDT / 10:00 CEST. The release on Youtube (25FPS) is Saturday, August 10th, on eXtv's Youtube channel.

A documentary about the first-ever global LAN tournament of the fast-growing competitive Team Fortress 2 scene! A groundbreaking community fundraiser gathered enough funds to send two full 6-man teams from America to Europe to compete for a global title. This documentary features incredible in-game footage, interviews from players, shoutcasters and spectators, and an introduction to the basics of competitive TF2.

Filmed by eXtv at the i46 LAN event in Telford, England:

#6 What should I have written for the hype section, if not that? Keep in mind the purpose of that section is to quickly summarize a list of reasons to watch the video for someone who has little to no idea what he's looking at.

edit: Also I bet Enigma and Skyride have plenty of legit charts and graphs showing month on month growth in the community.

Average visit duration over 12 minutes
Visitors average 6.7 pages per visit

That's awesome

I lost all my stats when my server accidentally'd itself and the hard drive died.

But bassically, viewership wasn't growing all that much, but the quantity of casts and streams was increasing rapidly. For regular streaming viewership, it's about 5x what it was at this point last year.

i49 will be the big tell. We peaked at 6000 during the finals, see what happens this time.

However I'm a little confused. To my understanding the extv trip was primarily funded by the community in the form of donations. Isn't it a little bit unfair to ask for money again?

As I recall the donations were used to get LG and mix^ to i49, not extv.

To my understanding what actually happened was this:

Extv asked for donations to send the teams to i46, however, it looked like donations were only going to be enough for 1 team to go rather than 2. So Salamancer himself more or less completely funded the endeavor with his own personal money.

At which point I believe the money that was donated was transferred to Salamancer in an effort to repay him for his incredible generosity, but I doubt he was every actually repaid in full.

Right, eXtv never made any kind of profit on the community fundraiser. The fundraiser plus a portion of the i46 prize winnings came pretty close to covering the up-front costs that I handled. Nobody on eXtv had their air fare covered, either - all of the fundraiser money was for the teams.

As Tang_Un said, donations were purely used to get both American teams there. We paid our own trips.

Don't take this personally but I think that this documentary is probably going to be about Americans dominating the Euros and showing how much better they are.
If it won't be like that then I apologise but from what I keep hearing from different NA streamers that's pretty much how they feel.

In defence of eXtv (I am yet to see it) I'm quite certain if a Euro team had won it, it probably would of been more around them?

Also - technically they followed a US team to Europe, massive part of the why there :)

Well considering it is the story of sending two american teams to europe to compete, and the grand finals ended up being the american teams, I feel like the Americans dominating should be a main part of the story line.

But maybe thats just because im american.

If there were 2 things I could do over about this documentary, here's what they would be:

-Make sure we get Harbleu's fail at least 5 times in a row
-Change the logo away from goatse

Although the goatse reference is pretty funny once you realize it's there. It's just one of those things where you work on an image from earlier designs (duder came up with the two fists, but they had american/EU flags on them and were angled differently) and at no point does the question ever come up: "hey, doesn't this look like an inapporpriate meme?" I never thought it'd happen to me, though. I always thought unintentional goatse references were for luddites and old people.

Everyone has the right to be the Auditor General and question the motives behind money being collected, yet few step up to the plate to understand the effort it takes to bring such a production to the community. Now before you ask, "Who needs this thing, ANYWAY?", consider for a brief moment the millions of pubs you've played where a marauding band of unskilled, un-nerfed newbies are wandering around thinking they're the pinnacle of TF2 evolution in a daddy-paid unusual hat. They need this movie. They need you. If only, for a brief moment, they're able to see that competitive players are (Yes, yes, yes) far more than the Brass Beasting, Phlogistinating, Double Donking (No disrespect to any pubstars here) sycophants.

We need this movie. If only to remind ourselves that there is a better player inside of each one of us. The kind of player who uses a Chargin' Targe in a competitive match, the kind of player who ubers a spy and then gets clean away from not 6, but 9 players and finally, the kind of player who combines that lethal trisulphate of skill with the fluid, pulsating energy distilled from pure grit to create a resplendent, glowing TF2 masterpiece orbiting itself in endless spirals of glowing excellence. You know the kind - the one who spends hours on tr_walkway perfecting that one mid-air-airshot, the one who gives up TV dinners to run camera on the late-night stream of a low open match just because she loves the game, the one who gets in the server early, simply to warm up and make a good fight out of a match against an obviously overpowered opponent. Yes, you. I'm talking about you. The you in us and the us in we. THAT's who this movie is for. Damnit, kid, it was always for you. Goodnight.

Has anyone officialy contacted valve about getting this in?

I think it would be a massive promo tool if it was given in genuine quality to who bought the documentary, or to who donated to the i46-i49 fund.

Edit: Im wondering about the infrastructure to stream the video, will you outsource it or stream it from extv servers? It seems really heavy if it's 4Gbs for hundreds of vviewes at the same time
