Doom1Death rate of corona is literally nearly identical to flu except for age 65+ (2.7% death rate), and massive spike at 85+ for a 10% death rate at the highest. Source CDC. Coronavirus is nearly harmless for a gamer lan.. If you take care of your 85 year old grandparents just don't go.

However there is a vaccine for the flu and it's harder to spread, so corona is still more dangerous.

#8 should i lie about my height in The Dumpster
StylaxWhat they're really asking is 'you're 6'6; how will you deal with the inevitable joint pain, health issues and early death?'.

You don't get joint pain from being tall if you just sit down playing esports all day

#26 pegging in Off Topic

If I think that TF2 was a near-perfect game, and that the mistakes we need to learn from are largely capitalist ones, then that means I think that to make esports better, we have to dismantle capitalism.

That's not a punchline. I am completely serious.

#40 Redeye thinks TF2 should be an esport in TF2 General Discussion
Mitch But little did you know that these companies have to pay big royalties to Valve (usually in the $$$$$$) to run these competitions. We are actually quite lucky in what we do.

I think you are talking about the tournament licences ( but those are free and required for TF2 as well (technically)

If you are talking about tournament organizers losing money on the majors, that's true but it's because Valve only covers the prize pool and not the other various costs associated with running stadium events that are rarely profitable to begin with.

#14 going to college, need laptop recommendations in Hardware
Treshim gonna be majoring in comp sci so im pretty sure im gonna need windows (not sure on this one)
my budgets like around 800, but im okay with spending a little more if its good

OS might be dependent on what exactly your department does but in my case i use eclipse which is on every OS. i have it on my mac and the pcs for in class labs are running some linux version (i think it's ubuntu or something similar). Look at what your specific university recommends for computers.

Also look if they have a student laptop program. Some (most?) universities partner with laptop companies to get you a discount if you buy the laptop through your universities bookstore. For example I could buy a macbook air with applecare for $210 cheaper. They probably won't have a great variety but it's a good way to save some money if one of them looks good for you. Plus, at least in my case you get tech support through the university and if it breaks they have a loaner pool while yours gets repaired. Still always be sure to price shop, it could always be cheaper somewhere else.

#11 Biking help in Off Topic
Max_It's not only safer but easier to brake on a bike than it is on a skateboard because bikes have actual brakes instead of your foot

I mean, you can bail off a skateboard though and just roll (i think, I don't skateboard) whereas on a bike if you wipe out the bike can get in your way and you get hurt. I gouged my leg going over my handlebars once. That said if you know how to ride a bike and you aren't trying to take a sharp turn while going downhill really fast or something like that a bike is hard to fall off of/crash.

#15 Is the ESEA GF the longest esports series ever? in TF2 General Discussion
JojoThe issue with this is that it means grand finals can end in as few as 2 maps which is sort of lackluster.

This is also true for the current double bo3

#126 can we ban most unlocks yet? in Q/A Help

Most people don't really care about how OP a weapon is relative to the alternatives. They only care if it's dumb to play against. Maybe the crossbow is at that point but I thought it was generally considered to be ok.

It's possible to change the amount of knockback (force of nature) so it should be possible to lower it.
