Make sure to be super nice to everyone you meet.

There are a lot of assholes out there, and although it may be tempting to try and defend yourself when people start bitching, just keep your mouth shut. Lots of people have gotten bad reputations just because they can't keep their mouths shut. Even when it's just something trivial, this community likes to blow things out of proportion.

Stream

It takes a whole lot of dedication though. And good, stable internet.

If you can't do that, then pugging is the best. You'd probably be pugging while streaming anyway.

Do a lot of pugs and make a looking post. You can ask people in pugs to drop a few good words for you in your thread to help you out.

To get known in league play you either have to rape or be on a team that is worth knowing. In most cases this means just sticking with it until the team you play with is good enough to gain recognition for all the players on the team.

Pug a lot, find people you like and be friends with them. Ringing can also give good experience and opportunities to build friendships especially if you ring multiple times for the same team. Just talking to people from anywhere helps, too. You never know. During last summer after my first season of Open a friend of mine wanted me to make a UGC Steel team with him to teach him the game, and through mentoring that group I've met some of the nicest people who are my closest friends now and I couldn't have asked for better. Have a good personality, don't be a shit talker or rager, and be dedicated at this game and getting better. Most of all don't forget what this game is all about: fun.

Best of luck Dronux. Hope to see you in season 15 Open. ^^

One way to build up a good reputation is to contribute in some sort of way to the community, either through streaming, writing articles, making videos, programming mods, etc. As others have said pugging is also a good way to meet people, even just going into public mumble channels to talk will help.

Hi Dronux. Already a lot of good advice in this thread. Just always keep in mind, reputation is something you let grow over time; you don't suddenly jump to fame. Consistent pugging/practice/ringing/etc. will keep helping that grow, as long as your own skills are growing as well.

And always know, if you're an honest person, people will forgive you for your mistakes.

EDIT: I'll also add, I had a very bad first season of Open (2 wins, 14 losses, both wins were FFWs), but I didn't let that phase me and continued to learn to play this game. I'm surprised that I have the amount of tryouts/offers I've gotten.
