idk if anybody else was watching this shit, but:
israel obviously couldn't win, it would be the end of eurovision
they did incredibly well in the public vote, even though their song was fucking ass
i understand this is not the forum for politics, but i'm not going crazy am I? apparently my country gave max points to israel through the public vote. thats not real right? i'm not going crazy right?

It was your first time with Eurovision?

As a sign of Israel's proactive strategy, the Canadian-Israeli cosmetics company Moroccanoil has been the EBU's largest private sponsor since 2020

Everyone wants to have good relations with Israel. It’s pure politics

Yeah I mean most of these events, especially sporting ones, are soft power projection. Like with chess where if you are from Russia you are not allowed to particiapte under a Russian flag. As if chess players are responsible for the state's actions, or the players themselves are from a lab built by the MoD.

Political slop show. It always has been a popularity show first and a music thing second. Also the very obvious elephant in the room isn't addressed for yet another edition.

The concept of someone trying to rig eurovision to project power is so fucking funny.

Music is not even in the top 5 of their priorities. Stage set, appearance, politics, levels of queerness and what "message" the artists have seem far more important than making music

HubertTheFishwhy is isreal even participating in eurovision when it is not in europe???

The same reason Australia is in Eurovision, being a member of the EBU. Israel's Moroccanoil has also been a major sponsor for years. I think regardless of what EBU does, it'll always be controversial, so I feel like they have no choice but to just keep rolling on with it.
