Ive been getting annoying screen tearing ever since ive gotten back to the game. been playing on fixed refresh 144hz with fps_max 0 and fps capped at 144 on rivatuner. old guides and mastercomfig`s own documentation seems to refer that as the best way to go about it but the screen tearing is really distracting. Any type of sync method is just not gonna cut it, ive tried the "fast" sync in the nvidia control panel and it just makes tf2 run like a slideshow instead. i have a G-sync monitor so i tried leaving that on but the screen tearing remains regardless if the game is on fixed refresh or g-sync mode. any help would be appreciated. jump players probably have this figured out.

Gsync on, vsync on, limit fps to 3-5 below max refresh of your monitor with the nvidia control panel.

you wanted the best method for removing screen tearing, the best method by far is turning on gsync and vsync on and frame capping to 138

If you care about input lag introduced by Vsync you can turn it off but youll get screen tearing at the bottom of your screen which makes it a bit less noticeable, but if you want absolutely zero screentearing then you have to enable vsync

Depending on the monitor you can mess around scanline syncing, pretty cool stuff to play around with and was like glass on a samsung g7 and... dell? 240hz. Currently on an LG B4 48" 120hz oled, heavily considering tuning the setup for this again due to the relatively low refresh rate.
