RGL, please fix your invite playoffs bracket

The RGL Invite playoffs bracket is messed up. In a typical top 8, double elim bracket, typically the loser of seed 1 vs seed 4 would eventually play the winner of 5th seed vs 8th, and the loser of seed 2 vs seed 3 would eventually play the winner of seed 6 vs seed 7. However, the RGL invite playoffs bracket does not follow this convention, instead making the 3rd seed (Darkest Knights) play the 5th seed (GCI, my team), and 4th seed (GCF) plays the 6th seed (FGP).

If the bracket plays out this way, my team is being punished for winning our stage 2 group B matches and getting 5th seed by having a harder match. If we wanted to have an easier match in lower round two, the optimal play would have been to lose group B GF. I have brought this up to RGL through official channels, and they agreed with me but refused to change the structure of invite playoffs in the "spirit of competition" I understand that it was this way last season, and several people told me that it was complained about then as well. So why wasn't it changed?

seeding wise you guys technically had the easier first round matchup, which was the benefit of winning the stage 2 group B matches. but in every bracket ever made the high seeds play the low seeds early on, no idea how it is a 4 vs 6 seed and 3 vs 5 seed matchup instead of a 4 vs 5 seed and 3 vs 6 seed. RGL should definitely change it.

i know this isn't basketball but here is march madness doing it correctly:

and the NBA playoffs (which is 8 teams per conference):

You're right. The current system is definitely not optimal. In my opinion I think the stark contrast between top4 and bottom4 invite exasperates the bracket/seeding problem.

iirc, the whole allure of using this convoluted regular season mini-seeding-brackets was that it was advertised as teams having better match ups and thus games are more fun. I can kinda see that, but not for playoffs. I can't speak for GCI, but the way we see it on fgp is:

"nice, you won first round of playoffs, now go lose to a team you've taken like 1 round off all season. Oh and it's single elimination, glhf"

^ again, I can't speak for other teams, but this is definitely not the fun I was thinking of.
I do agree with arcadia though; sticking with current playoffs format for this season is best.
