What happens with current 12v12 matchmaking, and when is all this coming?
In the next 2–3 months, FACEIT 12v12 matchmaking will see some small improvements whilst we are working on the new PLAY experience for the whole community. We’ll also be working more actively on support for 6v6 competitive, which — given our history as a competitive platform — we are confident that we can effectively serve with our current set of tools and features.
Soon we will share a new blog with you that contains detailed information about the new experience we are developing, together with a timeline on when it will be accessible to the public, alongside details of new server locations and further information on our plan for the 6v6 competitive community.

the faceit 6v6 platform before b4nny got involved was fine (at least in EU), just not enough people played it

this might be rose tinted glasses although na and eu faceit could have run pugs differently, but i remember the default elo being way too high which would force new players into brutal rolls were their team is pissed at them for the poor balance when that's not their fault
this isn't a problem with 12 experienced players but i thought the whole point of faceit was its accessibility for newer players who might not know about pug groups and such

When I first started with faceit 6v6 in 2018, I thought the starting elo was fine. The beginner division was perfect for people completely new to competitive tf2. Maybe it was different before TF2PL came along?

it was rly shit in na because frkshw & his buddies would throw games to make bank off the $2 prizepools, not much longer after that he got caught by faceit ac. some people never change.

In all honesty, we need a platform like FACEIT. Trying to play 6s without a team right now (at least in EU) sucks for anyone who is below Div 2 because your options are limited to random mix groups which usually die after 3 months or are just filled with circlejerks, or you have TF2Center which is a toxic cesspool where top players will play against some pubber whos trying comp for the first time. They usually leave after 3 games cause some random middie who thinks they are god's gift to tf2 trashes on them. You also have to wait 20+ minutes for two people to go med.

FACEIT has a good opportunity to be a proper hop-in queue-based way of playing comp. Something we haven't had since...well, the last time they tried. Their first attempt was not ideal, as there was no role queue so it was a mad scramble for what roles you wanted and the points they award incentivised bad actors throwing matches. I think that their 6v6 mode shouldn't award points outside of their Missions (Do x amount of damage, Get x assists) otherwise people will abuse the system as we have seen from their 12v12 mode. Now that they have the capability to implement role/map queues this may be something that can actually work. In addition, their Hubs mean that groups can run matches for certain groups such as newbie-only or Rank 10 players.

It's worth a shot, I just hope that they've learned from their mistakes.
