Found this video today.
What's your guys thoughts?
If seen to fruition do you think this could impact our competitive scene?

he also said he's looking for people interested in contributing to the project

Interesting I guess but seems very pub or more casual oriented with the focus on visuals (seemingly) above all else. Not a bad thing just not what I really care about and really dont see it doing anything for comp unless there is a way to cross translate the original tf2 into the unity version from STVs or demos for casts. But there is almost zero chance of something like that ever working.

Any fps game i've played in unity has always had this weird input lag. So far only source, id tech, valorant and ow have engines that actually feel responsive for mouse feel. TF2 in unity feels like it'd be a downgrade (although it'd probably perform better).

nobody will play it because people care about their cosmetics more, plus it will most likely get abandoned fast by the devs

i'd be curious what fragmovie editors would be able to do with it. i remember cyanic was doing stuff with unreal for the lighting, don't know if unity has similar things that could be leveraged

Ultimately this is nothing more than quite an impressive technical piece for the developer. The amount of work to keep the original style but in a modern engine is massive and I think it does a really good job at that. But I would not put a lot of weight in this being of consequence at a gameplay level outside of what a more modern tf2-like game may look and play like. Support it, provide (constructive) feedback, and the rest. But don't expect that this will amount to anything.

thatd make sense, its main usefulness for being things like frag movies and other production where SFM would be a pain in the ass to use, rather than for gameplay

i think best case scenario is valve hiring this guy. super impressive work and i've really enjoyed watching these devlogs, but i seriously doubt there are any gameplay implications (and certainly not competitive implications)

valve just needs to hire like the 3 or 4 tf2-fixing dorks with a reasonable salary, and this game will last forever

(ily, tf2 fixing dorks)

nobody has fixed TF2 until they give pyro an LG
