As per title, some old version of m0re hud replaces every footsteps sounds with metal ones, breaching ETF2L league rule 6.4.

https://etf2l.org/general-rules-2/#6.4

Please download the latest version of this hud as i have been accused of cheating today by the anti cheat team and i legit had no idea why this is the case, nor did i notice the footstep sounds.

Below is the commit in which the hud creator fixes the issue.

https://github.com/Hypnootize/m0rehud/commit/40744e15f009bed3b192de88680218fa1d49de4d

edit: this is the case if you downloaded the hud between 31 August and 18 september (latest release).

i believe this dates back to jarateking's clean tf2 .vpk file pack days where surfaceproperties.txt would remove decals from the walls(i think) and also dandruff and smoke when shooting surfaces such as floors with hitscan(really nasty frame drops on bad pcs from those particles btw)

and i dont remember now but i believe the original file provided by jarateking used the metal footsteps which were fine at the time because people didnt yet fuck around with spy decloak sounds en masse

its just that it was shipped with m0rehud for reasons beyond me

It was shipped with m0rehud by mistake and reverted as soon as someone told me but since this summer I wasn't online very often it stayed unfixed for a bit too long. I was testing out this old version of surfaceproperties.txt in question, to get some more knowledge on the file, as I was also working on a new version of m0rehud and while adding the hud changes to github the file slipped through unchecked.

I wasn't aware it would break the etf2l rules and I apologize if anyone got in trouble for this, it wasn't intentional in any way!

Thanks a lot for this fix. Hopefully nobody will be falsely accused of cheating down the line. I know a good number of players who use this HUD, myself included.

PSA that footstep replacements are also banned in the RGL ruleset, so NA players should also be checking they don't have a problematic version of m0rehud or cleantf2.

Is there any way of checking if my version of m0rehud has that? I'm using a edit of it.

it is easiest to just walk around on grass and see if you hear grass or metal but alternatively, go into <yourhud>/scripts/surfaceproperties.txt and compare your text file to the green changes in this link: https://github.com/Hypnootize/m0rehud/commit/40744e15f009bed3b192de88680218fa1d49de4d

if your surfaceproperties.txt file matches the red side (where it has SolidMetal being used everywhere), you're using the one that replaces footsteps.

alternatively, you can just copy/overwrite all of this file's contents into your own surfaceproperties.txt and call it a day
