Following another dominant performance by GOBLIN JACKS in RGL 4v4 PASS Time Cup #2, in which the team lost only three maps over the entire tournament, all of which were to silver medalist Pegglers 2, The 4v4 PASS Time Discord is shaking things up a bit with a draft cup the weekend of 1 & 2 June!

4v4 PASS Time

4v4 PASS Time is a fast-paced and highly skillful competitive format using mechanics from the casual version of PASS Time. It challenges teams to use their mechanical skills (rocket jumps, deathmatch ability, trimps, surfs, etc.) as well as solid teamwork and communication to claim victory on an array of custom built maps for the game mode.

Format

Four teams will compete in a round-robin group stage on the first day of the cup, playing three best-of-one matches to seed the bracket. Day two will feature the teams competing in a best-of-three double-elimination bracket to determine the event’s champion, with all four teams starting the bracket in the upper-bracket semifinals.

Teams

Instead of a traditional tournament, where teams form organically, for the draft cup the best four PASS Time players (Grandmasters) each started their own team and drafted the best roster they could from the available players, rotating their picks. GOBLIN JACKS

Helmed by Grandmaster tomato tom, this GOBLIN JACKS roster looks a bit different than the insanely stacked ones we’ve seen in the RGL Cup series so far, as the draft cup format means that all the top talent cannot simply flock to the GOBLIN JACKS name. This is not to discredit the other players here, though: PND4 and speakers were most recently both on Pegglers 2, the only team to seriously challenge GOBLIN JACKS’ hegemony in RGL Cup #2, including an electrifying ace from PND4 to win Pegglers’ only map in their Grand Final clash against the Goblins there.

pulsedog is the X-factor here; a natural talent, they quickly mastered the gamemode but have not been active recently. What kind of impact will they have on this iteration of the GOBLIN JACKS?

WBALLSTARS

Led by Grandmaster exer, WBALLSTARS should be a serious threat to take things all the way, with Kaden and blake++ also coming from the Pegglers 2 roster. WBALLSTARS’ players are all extremely capable mechanically and possess strong gamesense. Kaden, blake++, and exer all play pretty textbook PASS Time and should be able to beat other teams with their raw strength and consistency. Crutch is the biggest question mark on this roster; his unpredictable playstyle could either provide some necessary variety to the WBALLSTARS offence or end up costing them defensively with unexpected turnovers.

Inheriting the refugees banner from Grandmaster nomad’s RGL Advanced project, the 4v4 PASS Time variant of refugees has a vibe distinct from the other three teams in competition. Jon stands out as the only Medic main in the cup (although dorito has previously been known to take up the crossbow); expect him to perform the classic Medic role of quarterbacking the offence, and maybe score a few cheeky goals from extreme range as well. Ddot is well-known as a highly dependable defensive and support player, most recently seen feeding fellow Draft Cup participant cringy assist after assist on their way to win Div 2 together as part of Airbud Fan Club in RGL Cup #2.

dorito rounds out the roster as a talented multi-class player, capable of piloting Soldier, Demo, or Medic at the top level using his rock-solid fundamentals.

Allahb

The fourth and final Draft Cup team, assembled by Grandmaster slamborghini, is Allahb. This roster is a healthy mix of seasoned PASS Time veterans in slam and cyclopsguy, and up-and-comers Danmar33 and cringy. Expect slam to blow everyone’s mind with a bomb no one’s seen before, Danmar to use his high-level jumping skills to outpace other players, cringy to showcase his scoring ability, and cyclopsguy to utilise his wealth of experience in the gamemode to excel this event.
