imo a less cartoonish looking game would attract more competitive players, like people look at tf2 and think "this is super cartoonish game compared to [cs:go, etc.] so it must be a casual game with no real competitive scene". sure overwatch is cartoonish but the way they advertised the game, the whole storyline, and all the various heroes are just more appealing to the majority of people imo. tf2 being f2p could also have an impact

If only one thing, I'm torn between a better default HUD and better performance for a going on 10 year old F2P game

Probably would have to be the second one of the two though. At least we have custom HUDs and the ability to modify certain HUD files

It doesn't matter what one thing would save tf2, it's about what one thing could we, as individuals, could do to save tf2.

The one thing that would help tf2 the most is if valve stops thinking that no transparency is good because we never get hyped up and be dissappointed when something doesn't make it in the update. It simply doesn't work.

we need to figure out a way to make these 12v12 pub kids acknowledge and realize the existence of competitive tf2, in order for that to happen, we need a functioning MM system which should be similar to comp tf2 as it is right now, next we need to further the advertisement and exposure of comp tf2, because more viewers = potential sponsorships being interested = more money + valve also dropping the ball? and the stream tab being open from startup is also really key for exposure, I doubt people actually press the button, so it would be nice for it being automatically on

these are just hopes and dreams however but we'll see what the future has in store

also this is like the 4th thread thats been made this year lmao

Actual competition in invite, instead of incentivizing low invite teams to play lower divs for an easy paycheck. ESEA LANs would be nice too.

But if we REALLY want to bring in a bunch of players, we should unban more weapons, obviously.
