Endif is a much more useful floor shoot trainer than airshot practice. If endif was only for getting spawn rockets it would useless as an arena

what the fuck..... then just play a flat arena without totally fucked up garvity if you want practice that's actually applicable to the game. Endif is pretty much a for funsies airshot arena.

If you're supposed to spawnkill in endif, then why not have it spawn bots endlessly. No one wants to get killed the second they spawn without any way of defending themselves, so why would anyone volunteer for a job that can be just as easily done by a bot.

Contrary to popular belief you can create momentum from nothing in tf2 because of airstrafing, and since there are 4 spots you can spawn at, its impossible for them to kill you instantly every time.
That and bots will never have human-like movement. You can pre-program their movement but they won't ever have reactionary movement.

If you want to be a super try hard you can spam rockets up in the air before you even see the other person spawn, or you can fire almost 4 rockets and hope that one of them hits. But shooting one rocket at someone spawning is really not that "bad."

Every time I hear someone say "you are defenseless/can't strafe after spawning" I cringe. You CAN. To me, part of the fun of endif is avoiding getting killed after I spawn. It's actually fun to me. But then again I love to surf.

Also, some games take soooooo long to finish in endif if you and your opponent are both very good at maintaining air control after you get juggled up. Spawn killing makes the games go by faster.

But, at the end of the day, if someone asks me to not spawn kill, I will apologize and respect their request. If someone really doesn't want you to spawn kill, I think it's rude to try and shove your opinion down their throat if they don't agree with you.

I used to be that guy though. I would spawn kill every time and when someone said something to me I would be a total dick about it and troll them. Eventually I realized how lame that was and stoppe.d

Complaining that someone is jumping/surfing/counterjumping/shotgun denying/using stickies is ignorant. I don't play MGE, but if I did, I would use whatever tactic is most annoying to the other player, because everyone in MGE is apparently a panty-bunched pansy.

You're all proclaiming you play MGE to get better, so maybe you should utilize those opportunities to beat the tactics being used against you. If you think good players in 6v6 don't use those tactics and it's pointless to practice them, you are sorely mistaken.

That being said, MGE is dumb.

I agree with all of your points, but saying MGE is dumb is pretty much face-fucking everyone who put time and energy into making it for it's intended purpose. It's a great, fun mod, but frustration occurs when people play a certain way.

Also, if you don't play MGE, why come off as so hostile on something you've never experienced?

What a terrible analogy. Endif has been that way since quakeworld, it's the entire point of the map. You'd think someone would change it in the over a decade it's been out if it was such a design flaw.

2v2 MGE is better. All the benefits of DM + you get shot in the back less. Also easier to start up, acts as a team building exercise, and evens out class matchups.

ive been reading this thread and I saw all this whining about rocket surfing or whatever

i pretty much play mge always with the same buddy, he jump/surfs whatever all my rockets and spams down and i do the same, this way we learned how to airshot the fuck out of anyone.

my point is: it doesn't matter if somebody is surfing your rockets, because that is probably the best practice for your airshots/aim, what really matters is who you're playing against, and if you have the slightest bit of angred/hatred towards that person you'll obviously get mad at anything they do.

All this thread has done is encourage me to use an alt because it seems fun as fuck.

the only way to stop people from getting mad in mge is to get rid of elo entirely and not play to 20. let them play until someone leaves and if someone is waiting to play that arena set a time limit.

everytime some new training mod comes out for tf2 everyone thinks its the greatest thing to ever happen to the game then 6 months later everyone thinks its shit and bad and comes up with excuses to why they dont like it.
