EmilioEstevezYou can't put a price on democracy anyway.

this should not be the major argument you have in favor of so utterly tanking the core economics of your own country--especially when you splitting off essentially dropped all of your bartering ability that the EU had, and moreso when it's so easy to argue that the only reason the vote won was thanks to a heaping spoonful of misinformation

EmilioEstevezAs for trade, we will be fine.

I like how you're saying this after the country had already lost literally a thousand times over what it was touting as saving--and keep in mind, this decision isn't 100% final just yet, so should it go through parliament expect another spike

SearchlightTextbook example of how the new European Right does things: Insist on everything being decided by popular vote, then muddle the campaign with racism, appeals to emotion, and outright lies, paint yourself as the oppressed group and get the votes of everyone you've successfully confused.

I can't really say it's just the european right, this is literally the only reason trump's a major candidate; he's a complete bullshitter that even the most basic of momentary glances would show a million flaws, but he's gotten so many people to believe that any form of objective media is out to get him that he's still wildly succeeding

2016 is the year of everyone simultaneously figuring out an unchecked democracy's one major flaw

fooqpI'm curious, why such a big amount of people voted for exit? what the benefits?

for the most part, huge chunks of the UK were never really informed as to how either side would actually benefit/hurt the country

democracy only works when there's informed voters, this had old people who just really wanted immigrants to go away

#36 So when do I cash in on pounds? in Off Topic

I'd say "welcome to the economy-fucked-by-old-out-of-touch-politicians" club, but tbh even stephen "OIL FOR THE OIL GOD" harper couldn't ever fuck up this badly if he tried

legit though: I knew of some folks in tech who were expecting to move to the UK for some jobs in a month or two. no fucking clue what's going to happen to them now, that sucks hard

a hint of irony in old brits being afraid other cultures will come in and take over their economy

like a serial killer dreaming of being stabbed in the middle of the night

#90 TF2 Pre Update for 6/22/16 in TF2 General Discussion

once you get high enough in rank you'd be expected to see less and less of that type of player, maybe once you hit silver you can start doing Bo5's?

I can't believe we haven't even had matchmaking open yet, and we already have a scrub for everyone to gawk at as an example of "don't be like this"

remember, if you barge into someone else's mumble and get muted, it's censorship

nopeThere are already a million different ideas for changing every weapon in the game out there on forums or message boards or whatever. There's simply no need for them to waste time on doing stuff like that.

steam forums are a garbage factory of scrubs who don't actually represent the game's audience. if you threw out an idea on twitter and just skimmed through the replies you're far more likely to get ideas from normal people

cirloRainofLightthey're keeping the best to 3 format. anyone else think it should be 5 with 30 server time?Nah Bo3 it's ok. It can be really frustrating for people not used to loose :\ (and thus it would distance the pub players)

plus it means that whenever they do different modes from standard 6s fare (A/D and CTF) they don't need to make any extra rules, it's all universal

obviously not the best ruleset for leagues, but as a way to get new players in it's an easy decision

#102 Valve Visit in TF2 General Discussion

valve really needs more dedicated community managers for this sort of thing

like the only time TF2 was fully transparent was because robin walker was willing to make constant blog posts about it--and that's not his actual job, so it's just something he basically did because he felt like it

valve's only good at changing weapons if there's a good way to redesign/balance it, DDS' core design is so fucked that any balancing attempt will still give a similar result

just toss the whole thing out and give it a new reason to exist, "win all sniper wars" is a bad idea no matter which angle you try it at
