#89 Mass shooting in Orlando in Off Topic

it's an old mindset of "well they used to decades ago, so they might now!", forgetting that

a) the "contamination" was because of the same HIV epidemic that was heavily quelled thanks to safe sex
and
b) HIV's fastest spread rate wasn't because two dudes just magically seemed to connect viruses, it's specifically because of anal... which is something heterosexual people can do just as easily

their attempts of progressing it was just basically "well now there's a one-year period where it's ok after that" which still wildly misses the point

I'm just... terrified right now. there was almost no mention that it was a gay club that was hit in most media sites, when given that club's status in orlando, it was very likely an intentional target

TurinTrash I'm pretty sure the FDA lifted the ban on gay men donating blood.

it's still widely denied in most blood donor charities in florida

that being said:

it's... a small comfort, but an important one nonetheless

#70 Mass shooting in Orlando in Off Topic

a mild distraction from the current fear eating me whole:

considering the fucking attacks against people within LGBT within the past year, you are lying through your teeth for a scapegoat if you think this is solely islam. I am seeing politicians normally decrying my very existence suddenly tolerating me for just long enough to toss shit at everyone else, and it's disgusting. this was not a random club, it was a gay club, and this was not an unintentional choice

currently, many people are in urgent care, requiring blood transfers... which people from their own community can't legally give them. fuck, fuck, fuck

#150 unpopular tf2 opinions in TF2 General Discussion

I like that casual tf2 players get up in arms over pyro, if only because pyro is objectively, mechanically busted and properly "buffing" him in a way that solves complaints can result in his visual flames actually representing where they really go

he's always going to be used solely for airblast defense anyways, so it'd be nice if you could tell where the fuck he's firing when dealing with him

#9 Easy TF2 Mapmaker in Projects

this has one single job w/r/t comp play, and that's to make basic testing for map concepts, without having to know a single thing about the hammer editor--and that, alone, is brilliant. assuming this works well enough, you don't have to start off a competitive map spending hours creating an alpha version that, for all you know, might need to be completely scrapped. not to mention, I feel like there's a lot of pro players who had ideas for maps that they just could never have bothered to try out, and this would solve that just as well

#39 Blizzard statement on Overwatch cheating in Esports

now that it's almost guaranteed that the top players aren't hacking, I think it's notable to point out that their clips still look weird as fuck regardless, and if they weren't hacking that means the server replays are terrible at capturing move movement, making weird mouse movement (as many FPS pros tend to have) even weirder

that's... worrying. being able to see someone's real-time replay is supposed to be a useful way to check for cheats, yet replays are making innocent people seem fishy

#112 What was your first experience in competitive TF2? in TF2 General Discussion

I saw small snippets of competitive play before then (I specifically recall a 6s match on vanilla viaduct, when the righteous bison was still whitelisted) but I didn't really fully pay attention until late 2011, because STAR_ had a video of him showing how busted the pomson was in 6s lobbies

I ended up being around just in time to see esea s11 in full, wherein a super team destroyed for the entire season and then went 0-2 at LAN, that was fun

#34 Why noone has unusuals in competitive? in Q/A Help

when you think about it, that TF2 was able to make a system of "pay lots of money, and we'll give you items that make it much more likely for people on the opposing team to notice you" and actually be profitable is a wild act of ingenuity

#12 Publiclir Rebranded to Crowns Esports Club in News

I dunno why esports teams are just now realizing how traditional sports teams have the right idea when it comes to branding, but I am 100% all for it

that logo looks gorgeous

What size is your PC? I had a mini ITX rig so I was just able to put it in my luggage and use my clothes for padding
