yukimethmaidennope Not normally, no. But why then wasn't there another fundraiser for i52? I think it played a part (it seems like that from my outside perspective anyway), and obviously I'm not happy saying that. Trolls shouldn't get rewarded, but unfortunately real life doesn't always work out like that.
pretty sure immunity just didnt want to ask for donations when they didnt need them. they could pay for themselves (+sponsors chipping in)

We paid for i52 ourselves in full. We got some peripherals and a few facebook posts.

i paid for you cunts with my love

#68 state of pugs in TF2 General Discussion
Waldo-protolol? If the problem isn't irc then why hasn't a pug started in over a week yet tf2pickup sees 40 pugs per day. I know fucking tons of people who dont want to bother with irc but still want to pug. There needs to be a visual web based service for people to want to pug. Stats don't lie.WaldoPugna used to have admins who would send an announcement from the steam group around the normal pugging time. In the months before the death of pugna, Mythikal/mpb/Fog stopped doing so, resulting in less games starting. Switching irc servers wasn't beneficial. Also, the season in which many teams played both ESEA and CEVO coincided with pugna losing most of its userbase.

Ultimately, IRC pugs are just momentum-driven. If people know that they're happening, they will work better than inhouses in terms of both consistency and how inclusive they are. After the series of events described above, the momentum is gone, and they die until they are restarted forcefully.
Correlation doesn't imply causation.

when the community has enough time to put a research team together we can work on acquiring some quantitative data and evaluate our overall p value to tackle the question of "is irc killing pugs?"

for now let's assume everyone's testimonials about not liking irc is a pretty strong indicator

no reason to not shell out 25 or 20 dollars if the mousepad is just better and more durable - it's an extra $10 at max

#4 Mouse DPI? in Q/A Help

If there's a way to change your mouse dpi it'll be done through a logitech driver or on the mouse itself. Your best bet is to find out exactly what mouse it is and what drivers support it. If I were you though I'd just buy a better, more current mouse.

#55 Valve Bans CSGO Match Fixers in CS2 General Discussion
brownymasterclckwrkWhat I think would've been better is a fine. Fines ensure that the money won isn't even worth the entire process. Maybe with a ban thrown in at the same time, like a year-long ban. But then again, Valve doesn't have any ruleset laid out for this type of jurisdiction. They can't just on-the-fly decide to fine people, but since the majors are their tournaments, they can technically ban whomever they like. Fining actual money is a lot trickier. So now we have 4 of arguably the best players in NA banned for life completely arbitrarily, setting a "precedent" that I don't even think is scary.

And by no means am I defending their actions. I just don't like applauding something that could've been handled better.

I don't think valve has that power unless they make them pay to play in their tournaments again. Unless I'm missing some big contract like LoL has for all its players, there is no real regulation. I do agree that this is actually still a half-assed response because it literally came from nowhere and they haven't announced any steps to help regulate this shit beyond setting this precedent like you said. It's too bad valve wants to be laissez faire as possible aside from when they can make money selling stuff.

Yeah I don't really know the specifics, but it's classic valve basically. If they ever manage to fix the smokes in CS or fix matchmaking servers in either dota or CS, you'd best bet everyone will be thanking them for "fixing everything," when the fix will probably bring about new problems and should have been issued much sooner. #46 Valve Bans CSGO Match Fixers in CS2 General Discussion
cage-I was talking to someone last night, and they raised a good point. In valves statement, they made it clear pros should not partake in betting, and this was now against their policy. Now no one can think match fixing isn't a bannable offense, but they just made that rule as they banned the players. Im not sure this first time offense in the scene should have been such a career ending one. This is the first time (AFAIK) that valve stepped in to expose something like this, and with no prior statement saying they had rules that applied to other leagues not run by them.

What do you think?

To be honest I think Valve is also partially to blame as they always are in that they're extremely lax about their games. Especially with CSGO getting as big as it is, it's unacceptable to not have an overarching ruleset that can be enforced by Valve. To be honest, I think the whole banned from life from VALVE TOURNAMENTS??? is the dumbest punishment there could be. In the grand scheme of matchfixing, I don't think this will even do anything. If I were interested in a huge matchfixing scandal where I received over $10k in skins, I wouldn't expect to go to Valve tournaments anyway. If I were scummy, that's something I'd do right before quitting, because I don't get VAC banned and I'm not going to be participating in a major anyway.

What I think would've been better is a fine. Fines ensure that the money won isn't even worth the entire process. Maybe with a ban thrown in at the same time, like a year-long ban. But then again, Valve doesn't have any ruleset laid out for this type of jurisdiction.
