#30 The Sideshow Story in Off Topic

Big mistake. I started to read this pastebin at work, left my desk to do something and when walking back to my desk, I see a co-worker helping someone at my computer. Who knows...but I am not about to ask questions right now.

Still, this whole thing made me laugh pretty hard, well written.

2112I mean everyone appreciates that you write this stuff, but mausy has proven himself to be a demo capable of carrying entire teams over the course of literal years playing this game and this is vita's first season. And you justify it by taking two weeks of stats?

I don't think experience is the end-all for who's better, but at some point it has to at least be taken into account?

I am fully aware of mausy's experience and I really think some are looking into this way too much. It was literally me looking at stats and seeing some strong demo performances on Viaduct.

fatswimdudelike sure if u only look at 4 total matches you can compare vita and mausy purely off of dpm numbers (even though mausy's raw un-analyzed damage numbers on via were still higher), but you write it to sound like vita is not only better than mausy, but better than mausy to the point where hes expected to singlehandedly shut down all of ed head

Ok dude, like I am sorry for writing something for the 2nd round of open when matches finished last night. I looked over the stats of the maps in question and said some nice and hopefully good things about the players/teams. I never said anyone was the better demo, if you feel Mausy is better that;s awesome. For me it doesn't change the fact that the other demo did 400 DPM on a map played this round. My bad if I took like an hour to write these because matches literally ended last night along with my own team playing a match and scrimming. Sorry.

YipyapperI think you're undershotting puck fat a bit, odb is going to completely destroy you guys on viaduct and shiki and peyote didn't seem to be as effective as their dominant scouts and especially bear on viaduct

demos goin ham (also snakewater is a really good demo map too)

EDIT: bear replaced by shorei? what (still better than inco but that's quite a slip)
EDIT2: also it's funny that you're comparing mausy with vita

I compared vita and mausy based on their Viaduct performances in matches. Both were over 400 DPM so that seemed like a good comparison considering Viaduct is a playoff map for round 2. I don't really care much for what people do outside of official matches.

#1 Open Playoffs - Round 2 in TF2 General Discussion

Let the second round begin! Now that 8 teams have advanced, the more interesting and fantastic match-ups can happen. As I said before, it has been a long time since we have seen this many open teams around the same skill level and that only makes for better competition and awesome matches. Any team remaining can defeat any other team so nobody is a shoe-in for the finals.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#2 - Weiner Bros --- Vs. --- #7 - Blue Elephant

Peyote-------------Medic--------k-man
Shorei--------------Demo--------inco
Shiki / Rex--------Soldiers-----rage / lights
Skag / Skeez-----Scouts-------Kev / Yimi

Both teams performed solidly in the first round. Weiner Bros forced their opponents to Forfeit the 2nd map and Blue Elephant simply overwhelmed smug drugglers.

Looking at the individual maps I have to be of the opinion that Weiner Bros outclasses Blue Elephant on paper for Snake/Viad. Shiki and Peyote are the driving force behind Weiner Bros and may be the strongest combo in open. If given room they can easily dominate the flow of a match and cause major problems. Blue Elephant is going to rely on Kev / Yimi outplaying Skag / Skeez consistently so they can deal with the Weiner Combo. It will be a challenge but very much achievable as both scouts are skilled.

Weiner Bros had some very recent roster changes while Blue Elephant have been constant all season long. I have to believe team chemistry is in Blue Elephant’s favor right now but I don’t know how much that can offset Weiner Bros experience and slight DM advantage. With only a week or so to scrim, we will see how much can these 6 Weiners come together?

4-2 --- Weiner Bros (Snakewater)
4-1 --- Weiner Bros (Viaduct)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#3 - Puck Fat --- Vs. --- #6 - BLANC Esports

meyy--------------------Medic--------tery
odb----------------------Demo--------yuice
Bushy / Twitchy-----Soldiers-----Crasian / SpaceCadet
Nko / Luxor-----------Scouts-------Comanglia / Muse

Once again it is going to be strange talking about my own team but I personally felt that we underperformed greatly against god is real dude. While they played a solid game, I know we are capable of much better performances. Puck Fat exceeded my expectations and took WaddleSquad to school in dominating fashion proving they are ready for this post-season.

Match performances on the 3 maps this week (Snake, Viad, Process) have been almost mirror images for both BLANC and Puck Fat. I believe both scout combo's are going to cancel each other out as all 4 players are solid. Both teams are heavy on projectile classes and whoever shows-up is going to take this match.

GL to Puck Fat, I am not going to predict exact maps and rounds for this one but I believe it has a high chance of going 3 maps.

BLANC Esports Advances.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#1 - Ed Head --- Vs. --- #8 - 2 in Flank 4 in Stank

valkieri-------------------Medic--------maev
mausy--------------------Demo--------vita
zheep / digi-------------Soldiers-----charlie / penguin
newspeak / reimu-----Scouts-------waati / wags

I was dissapointed that 2F4S got a FFW in the first round. I felt their match against Pwr Rangers was going to be the best of the first round. Ed Head performed as expected and totally dominated open winners to advance.

Clearly 2F4S are the underdog team here in both experience and DM. On paper, every player match-up seems to be favored in Ed Heads corner but matches are not played on paper. 2F4S have proved during the season they can hang with any team in the division and if they are on their game this can be closer than a lot of people think.

This is a demo vs demo match-up to watch. Both mausy and vita are very strong and do massive amounts of work for both teams. Vita on Viaduct is going to be a problem and Ed Head will have to deal with him to make that map easier. There is a chance this will go 3 maps but I can't see Ed Head losing a 5 CP map in this match-up, only Viaduct is in question.

5-0 --- Ed Head (Snakewater)
4-3 --- Ed Head (Viaduct)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#4 - Mutual Consent --- Vs. --- #12 - rip john wayne kayc

aZn------------------------Medic--------Nu
Jaguar--------------------Demo--------Goat
ScrewB / Rolling-------Soldiers-----SS / Sparrow
Pinkushin / brrton-----Scouts------kayc / waffleb

Good lord SS can just carry a team to victory. Watching the STV of the match, he was clearly the driving force behind this upset win against Elite Pwnage Squad. More than that, the rest of the team knows how to play off their carry and cleanup frags. Mutual Consent performed as expected in their match-up with a dominant victory.

I don't know if SS can do the same against the stronger soldiers of Mutual Consent. ScrewB and recent roamer pickup Rolling have made Mutual Consent a difficult team to play against especially on Viaduct.

I just have a hard time seeing this match-up going favorably for john wayne. Mutual Consent is a very different type of team than EPS and they are going to be much more difficult to play against. Mutual Consent is probably the strongest team in open on Viaduct.

5-2 --- Mutual Consent (Snakewater)
4-0 --- Mutual Consent (Viaduct)

#79 Hassassin_ cheat evidence. in TF2 General Discussion
brownymasterSpaceCadetI like hass so I am not accusing or commenting on him directly but I can't fucking understand the general mentality here. In all my years of online gaming, the TF2 community defends cheaters more than any other I have experienced.

This same exact argument was given for Insom when he was seen cheating. If someone is fucking cheating, it doesn't matter is it is a pub or not. Why do they need to cheat in an "official match" for people to care and make it punishable?

There is no gray area, the fucking player is cheating. End of story.
What if they're hacking in Plants vs Zombies? Would we need to ban them from TF2?

Context 100% matters. There's a reason why nobody cares that much. We're not here to police for other people. I've hacked in plenty of non-pvp games, yet I really doubt people would give me shit for it or care. If I hacked in a TF2 non-vac server I think people still wouldn't give a shit. If I hack in a VAC pub people would probably think I'm an asshole, but it ultimately doesn't affect them and if I got banned from the server it wouldn't matter anyway. Hacking in a comp match, then people should blow their shit because it's the TF2 comp community and we don't want cheaters in the comp setting. Everything outside the comp scene really shouldn't matter unless it's hilarious or matters a lot.

Fair enough. Back in the old days, if we found someone cheating in any context they were banned from our leagues. There were no exceptions and people did not risk cheating because of it. I understand that ESEA and UGC do not enforce such things which probably means my way of thinking is old and out dated.

trashSpaceCadetThis same exact argument was given for Insom when he was seen cheating. If someone is fucking cheating, it doesn't matter is it is a pub or not. Why do they need to cheat in an "official match" for people to care and make it punishable?because the act of exposing cheating in itself requires far too much subjective evidence to not at least push for it to only be in the areas that matter. if it was as simple as choosing any source of play you want, then it'd be easy to pick something that sounds "fishy" enough through thousands of hours of someone's playtime on, and considering some of the false positives I've seen in comp TF2, enough people would bite for it to slander, no matter how ridiculous the evidence may be

Even when evidence is not subjective only, people still get a free pass. Even when people themselves admit to cheating in pubs it is given a free pass.

I am not here to fight the mindset, I just can't personally understand it.

#484 PARIS TERRORIST ATTACK in Off Topic
fatswimdudewhat hes saying is that if you were really interested in safety and not just distrustful of foreigners you might try to fix domestic gun crimes than "immigrant terrorism"

I am interested in keeping terrorists out of our country. If you want to call that a safety concern, fair enough. I can easily agree that gun crimes is an issue that needs to be fixed in this country. I also think it is a totally separate issue than the one we are talking about currently and has no basis for comparison.

trashsheepylolIt's important to know that how they are feeling isn't entirely unjustified and they are not bad people for feeling like this. This is why people need to stop throwing around the word "racist" here when someone says anything remotely against Islam, all it will do is make them feel worse and it will certainly not help to change their views.
"my racism is okay because it involved a bad scenario" is still racism. you don't get to will away the consequences of what that means, and you definitely better not be willing to go into a discussion thread thinking you should continue to live in ignorance if this is what you strongly believe
SpaceCadetYou can disagree with my point of view on immigration, that is your right. Just don't be among the crowd screaming "how did they get in the country?" when an attack of greater magnitude hits in the USA.oh boy, fox news rhetoric, my fav

1) I'm not even american, there's like a flag of where I'm from RIGHT ABOVE THIS TEXT! and, in that magical world, we let a lot of different people in for quite a while, to the point that our ministry cabinet just straight-up has a sikh leading our entire military now. funny enough, we have yet to explode from sheer cultural impact

2) if you were actually as emphasized on "safety" as you proudly believed yourself to be, surely you'd be eyeing up the massive number of gun-related deaths in america, a statistic which doesn't even just eclipse all terrorist deaths in america since 2001, but actually beats that number on a monthly basis? statistically, you're not actually accomplishing much if you want safety

3) if you actually had any understanding of who the daesh were beyond your shitty pre-historic brain mentality of "MAN IN STRANGE GARB, MUST REMOVE", you would realize that they and you are actually the best of pals in this world. they want people like you, because your bullshit creates more misinformation, and that lets them justify to more ignorance

I don't watch or listen to FOX news, it is beyond terrible. I also never referred to or said the word "safety" once in my posts.

The massive number of gun related deaths in this country are not terrorist related incidents. They also have nothing at all to do with keeping terrorists out of this country which is the main issue I am talking about.

I think you need to decide what issue you are really talking about here and not try to change the subject of your argument when the answers don't suit you.

you're pretty explicitly referring to immigration, no matter how hard you try to push it otherwise. that's a race thing. heavy profiling off of someone's race-and-culture-created looks and nothing else is a pretty hardcore race thing, even

Of course I am referring to immigration, I said it in my own post. Keeping these people out of our country is the best and only way to keep these attacks from happening. As I said, the rules of the game have changed and our laws need to reflect that.

trash"these people"

you can say the word "muslim" out loud, you know. that's what you're explicitly referring to, trying to mildly cover it isn't helping you

I have no intention of covering up anything it was simply the way I typed but if you want to be technical, I am referring to any terrorist entering this country and causing us harm as "these people". It is understandable that you refered to Muslims as "these people". It just so happens that most of the terrorist running around today happen to be extremist Muslims.

owlHow are you going to differentiate between "those people" and brown people who just want to come here and earn the same opportunities that you've been handed from birth?

Or is the only good America a white America?

Incidents like 9/11 and this Paris attack prove than we need to heavily screen anyone coming into this country. The rules of the game have changed and thus the immigration laws need to change. I wasn't "handed" anything at all, I have given back more than my share and support my country. My family's past has provided for me and served this country just like countless others. I can trace my roots back to before the civil war so my pride in America runs deep.

You and Mustard say "white america" over and over but I challenge either of you to find where I once said the same thing. It seems you have the problem with race and not I. My issue is with the security of this country and not letting these people in so freely in the future.

#471 PARIS TERRORIST ATTACK in Off Topic
mustardoverlordWith 1.6 Billion Muslims in the world, if even 1% of them are extremists then we need to worry about 16 million of these idiots causing us harm. Lots of estimates are well above 1% so don't act like it was just 8 guys in Paris out for a stroll with guns and bombs completely not representative of a HUGE amount of people who agree with killing us.

Yes, and with the largest army in the world and relatively indiscriminate rules about what defines an enemy combatant, a lot of people need to worry about us causing them harm. It doesn't change the fact that your fear of Muslims is disproportionate to the actual likelihood that the dude who deliberately choose to immigrate to the United States that you see on the street is going to cause you harm.
SpaceCadetYou keep worrying about "statistics" and and whatever college professors paper you happen to read and agree with on a Friday night. While you and the medic do that, the next terror plot is being sketched out in some random house right now by a group of people who should not be in either country to begin with.
How did I know that, after I brought up actual fact, as well as terms like "American exceptionalism", you were going to make a blatant appeal to anti-intellectualism. Just because you are not smart enough to understand how what you're saying is filled with double standards and bigotry, doesn't mean others are not.

Yes, obviously we'd all like terrorists not to be in our country. We'd also like police officers to have a 100% rate of stopping murders before they happen, but the Bill of Rights protects against police officers committing unlawful searches and seizures and soldiers taking quarter in our houses, as well as gives us all due process, the right to an attorney, the right to be tried by a jury of our peers, etc. Unless we have a magic wand that we can wave that tells us exactly where the terrorists are, I don't see why we should have the right to harass innocent Americans, especially when our mistreatment of Muslims gives more ammunition to the rhetoric of groups like ISIS and helps them recruit more people.

First off, at no time will I ever fear these people. The chances are extremely high that, if they ever try this shit around me, I will not be one of the cattle for slaughter they expect. I am going to return fire and we can see what happens after.

Secondly, nothing I said was a double standard. If you want to defend these people then that is on you. I have every right to want these people out of my country. They come here for free and have done nothing to build this country to what it is today. They leech off our schools and financial programs then go back "home" to their countries and help build shit over there instead of staying and building in the USA.
