#2 Songs that have sentimental value to you in Off Topic

Photograph by Nickelback makes me think of the past, and all the people I moved away from. Some I had very close relationships with, but we lost contact due to distance. (this was before facebook)

Iron Man by Black Sabbath was the song I was listening to when I had my first Mocha Frappuccino from Starbucks. Since then, whenever I drink a Mocha Frappuccino, I always listen to Iron Man. It's like a tradition at this point.

Several Eminem songs from before 2005 always bring me back to a certain moment in my childhood when things were simple, easy, and I was able to just cuss at the world without any major consequences. Two key songs are The Real Slim Shady and My Name Is.

Rooster by Alice in Chains, and In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins, are both songs that my mother always used to listen to when I was growing up. She still listens to them, just not as often. They take me back to my childhood home in the 90's. The hot tub, the yard we used to have. The bar we had in the basement. It's just a giant moment of nostalgia for me.

And finally, the Hamster Dance Song. That song reminds me of my old crazy friend, and how she'd always force me to listen to that stupid song. Same with Hilary Duff songs. They make me think of her, and the relationship we used to have. Nothing romantic or whatever, just childhood memories of us playing video games, playing in the mud outside (she was a huge tomboy), or catching june bugs in my front yard at night in front of the old birch tree. Oh, and the fireflies too. I actually just checked Google Maps, and apparently the new owners cut down the tree. Bastards.

Edit: Got two more.

Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles always makes me think of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Welcome To The Jungle by Guns N Roses always makes me think of my father, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I remember sitting in front of his plasma TV when the GTA commercial came on, and that song was featured in it. My dad was there, and everything just felt "warm".

#29 ESEA - IM and Looking Forward in TF2 General Discussion

So wait, registration won't be extended? There's only one team in Open right now that's paid up. What happens if teams fail to pay up within the next three days? Cause I honestly don't see that happening. Everybody is just so used to an extension, they sort of treat the first "wave" deadline as a soft limit, not something to be taken seriously.

#14 RGL.gg - Season 2 - $4,000 Prizepool Prolander in TF2 General Discussion
Jw321123I still don't get why sigafoo thinks 7v7 will suddenly take off as the meta comp format or something

Most of us pretty much agree that 7v7 just isn't necessary, and even if sigafoo is only doing this to stay relevant or even to boost his own ego or something, he could just as easily do that by creating a pretty sick 6s tournament

Engineers are rarely played in 6's. That probably has something to do with it

#8 RGL.gg - Season 2 - $4,000 Prizepool Prolander in TF2 General Discussion

Honestly, I'm curious about prolander as a format, and since RGL is the only league doing this right now, I figured I'd give it a try myself.
Was gonna do a thing with Faint but they dropped support, so now I'm bringing Envision Crew over.

My main issue so far in being a team leader for RGL, is finding players that actually want to play in this league. No offence intended to Sigafoo of course, but RGL is currently a bit of a joke as far as the sixes community is concerned. I don't know why Sigafoo is marketing this towards the sixes community, when the sixes folk don't really like highlander. So why would they be expected to like a format that's basically just highlander minus two classes? Even if it is arguably better than the original format it's set out to replace, it's still a format that nobody in the sixes community wants.

I mean, good on him for trying. Sigafoo clearly believes that prolander is the future of TF2. A belief I (and many others) don't share, but good on him for putting his money where his mouth is. I hope it works out, but I'm not holding my breath at all.

#11 LFP Low-Mid Open in Recruitment (looking for players)

We're still looking for a scout and a pocket. Styles ended up quitting due to personal life issues and won't be playing at all this season, and he wasn't really upfront on who was trying out for what. So I'm kinda starting again.

The roster that we now have confirmed is

Scout: Sidular
Scout: Available
Roamer: Snorty
Pocket: Available
Demoman: Manskirt
Medic: Aqua

If anybody wants to tryout for either Scout or Pocket, send me a friend request please. Things might be a tad hectic for a while as the merge didn't go entirely as planned, so just be aware of that.

#7 sport tips in Off Topic

As somebody that played soccer for over ten years, I can personally tell you that drinking too much water is a very. bad. thing. Just don't do it.

Also, vomit is hard to wash out of jerseys... Like, surprisingly hard.

#38 How much of your life has been on TF2? in TF2 General Discussion

Unfortunately, I only spent 1.78% of my life playing TF2. But on the plus side, I never idled or whatever. So that's 1.78% of pure gameplay. Yay, I think?

Just for the hell of it, I did another calculation. I have in total 402 games on Steam, yet TF2 is equal to 69% of my total Steam playtime.

#10 has anyone used a music streaming service? in Off Topic

I prefer Google Play Music myself. Sound quality is better than Spotify, and it has more music. It took Spotify a solid three years to get Cake's Showroom of Compassion, while Google has always had it.

Groove is... not good, in my experience. The sound quality is poor, even when compared with Spotify. I like the Groove client itself though, reminds me a lot of Rdio.

Anyway, to answer the original question? Yes, you can download music and keep it for as long as your subscription is active. However, to my knowledge at least, you must sign in every 30 days to continue to play your music offline. So it isn't yours to keep forever, unless you end up buying the album in full. If you buy the full album you keep that forever, obviously.

For the record I currently subscribe to both Spotify Premium and Google Play Music. Google for the songs that Spotify doesn't have, and for the higher sound quality. Spotify for its universal access. Can play Spotify on Xbox One, PS4, my phone, and basically everything else. I'd say Spotify is the most convenient of the bunch. I also like the fact I can upload any song to Google's service and stream it everywhere, which is really handy for custom tracks I have, or songs I bought on iTunes 10 years ago before realizing how shit iTunes was.

This totally goes against what I've been hearing. Hopefully it's true though. I've missed the day one update crashes.

#3 connection not secure? in Site Discussion

Actually this error is going to keep happening until TFTV adds an SSL certification to secure the site. There's a pretty big push by search engines and web browsers to get every site secured.

#226 TFCL - North American League in Projects

I managed to get a deal going with GameServers.com to include TFCL's configs and current season maps on every single one of their TF2 servers. If you rent a server from them, you can easily add all maps and cfg files from the Mods section of your control panel.
As time goes on I'll include more maps, and also provide updates to the configs directly on their panel. Will hopefully get all major 6's maps on there as well, whether they're used in TFCL or not.

I'm going to try to get similar stuff going with other major providers, but for now, GameServers.com is the only one that officially hosts our stuff.

edit:
Maps and Configs are now split into two separate "mods" so you can install them separately. This way whenever a new map is released, you won't have to lose any cfg edits you made.
