Hey, I know this tournament sounds... odd. But I'd actually be willing to get in on this with TFCL, if you're serious about hosting it.
Hosting weird things that are potentially silly and fun to watch is basically one of my primary plans moving forward. So send me a PM or add me on Steam if you're serious about this tournament, and we'll talk about getting it set up.
There's been a number of European players participating in TFCL, which is why we offered EU as a region when creating your team. However, this was more of a stat tracking metric, and never actually altered team placement or matchups.
Even though TFCL is primarily a North American league, there's still over 100 teams with EU set as their region, out of over 500 teams in total. So, to hopefully create a fair playing environment for everyone, I've decided (with help from damon from bball.tf) to launch TFCL into Europe by the end of the year.
This will only cover our ultiduo and bball leagues, and there are no plans to launch our sixes league into other regions.
The EU support may also be slightly different from what we're offering in NA. North America is and will always be our homebase, so the primary prize pool will be NA based. European prizes should be far more sponsor-based, so expect physical or digital prizes and gear, like mice, keyboards, monitors, etc. Specific prize information will be released closer to the EU launch.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
+1 the rat suggestion. I had one for years, and they're very lovable pets. Hamsters might look "fluffy" or whatever, but rats are loyal creatures. One halloween I even went out with the rat on my shoulder and called myself rat boy. Best halloween ever. So much candy.
Mr_YOLObleghfarecif it's an ultiduo cup why are the 1st and 2nd prizes not divisible by 2We only had a budget of 10 Keys its the best we could do.
Surely you could have scrounged together an extra $5 to get two more keys?
1st. 6 Keys.
2nd. 4 Keys.
3rd. 2 Keys.
The uneven nature of this seems rather odd, and if not a tad off putting. I mean, why force a team to decide on who receives the extra key? Wars have been started for less.
Have you checked to see if the mouse itself is damaged? I've had an issue with Razer in the past where the wire will sometimes short out. This also happened with my old MX518 from Logitech.
If that's not the issue, I've also noticed something odd with Windows 10 since the Creators Update. The mouse will just seemingly go inactive for a second, forcing me to rapidly move it on the mousepad to once again force it to track my movement. I have no idea if this is a driver issue or incompatibility with my Steelseries Rival, or if there's something with Windows 10 itself. It's as if the mouse just stops tracking. So if you're using the Windows 10 Creators Update, that's a possible culprit.
Pretty much what everybody else on here has already said, though I'd also like to throw in lesser formats for weekend cups. Something like ultiduo (2v2, medic/soldier) would work nicely, though hosting MGE (1v1) cups with soldier or scout would also be interesting.
Hosting yearly lan tournaments is also a must, and will basically make ESL the go-to for high level TF2. Just be sure to space it out. While this community is definitely passionate, it's also relatively small. You'll likely see the same teams and players competing year after year, so you don't wanna burn them out.
Attracting new players to this game is also important. I feel like smaller Ultiduo tournaments could help with that, as the concept is fairly straightforward and easy to get into. I'd also make a note of the free to play nature of TF2, and use that in marketing. There's zero upfront cost to compete, which could come in handy when trying to bring in new players.
This thread has made me realize that I don't actually have a dream job. Or dreams. Or a job. Or a life for that matter.
Though if I'd have to come up with a job that doesn't suck, I suppose something involving music. My mother was a manager for a major record label, and my father was a DJ. So I guess it'd be natural to get into the music industry myself. Perhaps starting up my own record label, and signing some local indie bands that may not get signed otherwise. Bands with unique sound but no major market appeal. To be able to make their dreams of stardom come true, with no bullshit or whatever. That sounds like a great job to have.
I've also wanted to run a small arcade and game store for pretty much all of my life. It's a dying market, but I think with the right location it could work out well enough. I'd host game nights every week, and provide lan parties for esports and such. Just generally offer up a good time for anybody interested in video games.
In case you guys missed the update notes, TFCL medals are now officially in game. I'll distribute them out shortly, just gotta collect all the steam ids first.
If you'd like for me to give you a medal right now, instead of waiting for the batch update, just link your TFCL profile and team experience here. Otherwise I should have everything out there within the next week or two.
Hey guys, so I'm doing team stuff again. This time around I'm going to experiment with the team, and specifically team strategies. I want to have some fun with this, and basically play around with the meta a bit more than usual for NA.
I'm scrapping the S25 roster pretty much entirely, and looking for new players that are open to thinking outside of the box, and just listening to my unorthodox calling. I'd like for everybody to be on the same page this season, and just play for their love of competitive TF2. This is basically the third time I've rebuilt the roster in ESEA, and I'm hoping it's one of those third time's the charm things.
Here's the roster, as it is now.
Scout: Sidular
Scout: Available
Roamer: Snorty
Pocket: Available
Demoman: Manskirt
Medic: Aqua??
::Schedule;;
Monday - Tuesday (pregame) - Wednesday - Thursday (pregame) - Sunday
As we begin to play together a bit more, we'll also throw in map reviews, and go over strategy stuff.
I'm going to be taking S26 far more seriously, though I don't expect to place higher than mid open. Main goal is just finding a roster that's fun to play with, and seeing how we go from there.
S25 was a total mess in every way imaginable. Roster issues aside, I couldn't personally dedicate my time to the team. I even missed an official, which up until then, was something I never did, and hope to never do again.
Thankfully things should be far more open, scheduling wise.
Anyway, please send me a PM if you're interested in trying out. You're also welcome to send me a friend request, though my friends list is usually full nowadays. Just comment if it's full and I'll add you when I can.
MenachemI'd like to make a bit of an idiot-proofing request: have all the seasons start at the same time. When you made that post about delaying the start of ultiduo, I had assumed that applied to 6s as well--accidentally missed the first two weeks of games. Whoops.
Yeah, everything was supposed to be in sync, but shit happened with the highlander stuff forcing me to delay Ultiduo a bit. The sixes thing wasn't affected by the prize pool change, so I just left that as it was.
After this season is fully finished I'll likely make everything else so it's synchronized. That was the intention this time, but, well. Yeah.
Do you have an email registered on TFCL? If you're a leader, you should receive match schedules by email every Wednesday night. Should avoid scheduling confusion in the future.
Update on league divisions
People keep asking me if TFCL will have divisions, and what they're going to be called. When IM got removed the questions basically doubled, so I'm just going to post this here to clear some things up. FAQ style!
Q. Will TFCL have divisions?
A. Yes, we will. Just need the teams to justify more than a single division.
Q. What are they going to be called?
A. S Rank, which is the highest form of competition in TFCL. This is comparable to Invite, and is where all of the top teams will go.
A Rank is the second highest division, and is similar to Intermediate.
B Rank is the Base Rank, most similar to Open. This is what everything is considered as of right now.
C Rank is the training division, intended for teams that are brand new to competitive Team Fortress 2. This is very similar to Iron, and is also what our coaching service will primarily focus on.
Q. When are they going to be out?
A. Divisions will be introduced as soon as we have enough teams to justify them.
Update regarding Ultiduo
To try and encourage more teams signing up, especially now that there's a prize pool involved with the first place prize being the same as last seasons, I'm going to extend things a bit.
Week 1 is now set for August 12th, with the registration deadline being August 9th. I'll update the site to reflect these changes, and also post an announcement to the steam group.
Honestly, when I first read the news? I instantly thought it was a joke. It came from TMZ, and I just don't trust their shit. I mean, do you have any idea how many times Stan Lee has died? It's just, I didn't believe it. I didn't want to believe it.
Even now I'm still wondering if this is just one giant joke. Like an inside joke that no one but LP themselves understand. But I know it isn't. It's just... too real.
Man, this news really hit me hard. Linkin Park was one of the only bands I've been meaning to see live, having played such a huge part of my childhood.
I never liked their new album, but looking back at the style change now, a more melodic "happy" sound makes a lot of sense. I just have no words to properly express this shit. I mean... fuck. Suicide is no joke, and whenever it happens to somebody you know or respect, it tends to change your view on them, and kinda analyze their old life a bit more. There were so many clues leading up to this shit, yet no body saw them.
Linkin Park wasn't a typical band. They were like a family. My thoughts go out to them, and to Chester's actual family, and his 6 kids. Just... rip.
If pure casual stuff, I find that I have the most fun on badwater. If we're talking competitive, I'd vote for process. No idea why, but I adore the crap out of that map.
