#24 Another mass shooting in El Paso Texas in World Events
paskoi never said im defending him

Okay, let's consider the context here.

You wrote "imagine supporting illegal immigration" in a thread about a mass murder of Hispanic people.

This shows that you believe (without any evidence) that:
1) The victims were illegal immigrants
2) The victims deserved to die because they were "illegal immigrants"

This is the same thing the shooter believed, as demonstrated by his manifesto and his target choice.

Writing something that supports the shooter's stated reasons for killing is defending the shooter.

Cities: Skylines is great for this because you can leave it running in the background to some extent to let your city grow. Takes a reasonably good PC to run though so keep that in mind.

[CITATION NEEDED]

bro, (to my knowledge) only one of these people posted a manifesto about how they hated the people they were going to kill while referencing another mass shooting of immigrant minorities. Terrible take.

paskopeople actually blaming trump lmfao

imagine supporting illegal immigration #maga

Imagine defending the mass murder of 20 innocent people because they look Hispanic. What the fuck is wrong with you?

I'm not saying that Trump directly caused this mass shooting. We can agree that that is ridiculous. What I'm saying is that Trump (and yourself) contribute to the broader cesspool of anti-immigrant hate that led the shooter to believe that his actions were justified.

While I'm here, I don't think many people actually read the mustard article so let me just pull a couple of salient quotes from that.

WP articleWe found that counties that had hosted a 2016 Trump campaign rally saw a 226 percent increase in reported hate crimes over comparable counties that did not host such a rally.WP articleAdditionally, it is hard to discount a “Trump effect” when a considerable number of these reported hate crimes reference Trump. According to the ADL’s 2016 data, these incidents included vandalism, intimidation and assault.WP articleWhat’s more, according to the FBI’s Universal Crime report in 2017, reported hate crimes increased 17 percent over 2016. Recent research also shows that reading or hearing Trump’s statements of bias against particular groups makes people more likely to write offensive things about the groups he targets.

#37 ANOTHER mass shooting in Dayton Ohio in World Events
melatoninstuff

How can an "overwhelming majority" of immigrants slave away in factories and still have time to deal drugs and assault people?

Do you realize that claiming (with little to no evidence) that immigrants are mostly criminals, dealers, and rapists is exactly the kind of rhetoric that cost 20 innocent people their lives yesterday? Are you certain that you're not part of the problem?

#30 ANOTHER mass shooting in Dayton Ohio in World Events

Reposting my thoughts from the El Paso thread below since I see all the action is happening here. The El Paso shooting is almost certainly a white supremacist attack (see sources below). (El Paso is 82.6% Hispanic BTW, and on the border) Dayton one doesn't appear to be motivated by white supremacy?

Christian persecution IS real by the way, we should take it seriously. I don't think it's true to the extent that sheepy's sources claim, but it 100% exists. Just don't use it as an excuse for persecuting other groups of people :v)

ShearsFuck this shit.

I have a friend from college who lives in El Paso. She and her family shop at that very Walmart sometimes. She was literally across the street when this happened. She's fine, thank god. But it seems that she would have been a priority target if she were in the store, which makes me really angry.

You see, there's something else I want to add to this thread. As the news reports come in, it's becoming increasingly clear that this was an act of hate against Hispanic people.

An anonymous, 2,300 word manifesto went up online just before the shooting ranting about the "Hispanic invasion of Texas" and alluding to alt-right theories about "white replacement". The shooter also referenced the Christchurch massacre, in which another white supremacist, also guided by this "white replacment" shit massacred Muslim people during their prayer service. Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49226573

My point is: this wasn't a random act of violence. This wasn't someone who decided to shoot up their school for reasons unknown. The shooter drove 9 hours from his hometown of Dallas to get to El Paso. They were deliberately targeting immigrants.

One last thing I want to make clear to people: there's a link between the rhetoric Trump uses about immigration and this shooting. Because guess who else loves to refer to Hispanic immigration as an "invasion?" That's right, the Donald himself. If you can't comprehend why people get angry about the words Trump uses, this is a perfect example.

#3369 PC Build Thread in Hardware

Hi all,

I don't know a ton about PC builds, but I'm considering investing in a new one for professional video editing.

My budget's around $3,000 currently, and I'm looking for a computer powerful enough for smooth editing with a moderate level of special fx applied to projects that I'm working on in Premiere and After Effects. Being able to edit more plain stuff (e.g. with lower levels of fx) in 4k would be nice as well, but not required.

This page by Puget Systems seems like a good starting point to base my hardware around -- what are your opinions on the basic build they have laid out there?
