I see what you're saying but I think that the top end of the community can agree that we should all at least queue up for this system and give it an honest try while it's in open beta. Long-term this could be really, really good for everyone involved. If the top end can embrace this system, it'll provide incentive for the lower end of the scene to use it since they'll have opportunities to play with higher level players. The top end of the scene can enjoy the skill/ranking system, rewards, and future tournaments that this platform can provide.

I think initially though it may be a bit rough while the matchmaking system sorts through players and places them properly, but if we all queue up and use it consistently then we'll get good games.

We appreciate you guys sticking with us throughout this process. We really tried to bring the professional side of TF2 newscoverage to TFTV, but ultimately we're going to stick to what we do best. TFTV is the home of competitive TF2, it's the place we like to congregate, and it's the best place to talk about all things comp TF2. I'm expecting some juicy shittalk in this thread!

Thanks for making that note. It's also worth noting that you don't need 6 players or a full team to sign up for this tournament. You can queue in as a solo player or as a group (they call it a party) and you'll get matched up with other players. It's a great way for you to hop in and start playing TF2 in a tournament setting!

Yeah exactly, it's single elim because that's the only choice available.

That said, it's worth noting that if more than 32 teams sign up, the first round will be the lowest seeded teams against the lowest seeded teams because the higher seeded teams will get a by.

If there's 32 teams signed up, you still have a fairly low chance of going up against an invite team because 6 invite teams out of 32 total teams means that invite teams only comprise 19% of the bracket.

Yeah, we did the best we could with what we had. FACEIT has a deadline for launching their platform but there's a ton of other things going on including the holidays and ESEA's $19k prize pool playoffs. It was difficult to work our tournament in and we announced as soon as we could.
