#68 ESEA Season 16 in News

I don't understand why teams that are focused on improving and have 2.5-3 hrs/night wouldn't be happy to play more matches and less scrims. Matches = more serious = better practice = better results. At least when I played matches I usually remembered things much more clearly and had my flaws stand out more and the good shit that I did was more reinforced vs. just being in a scrim, esp since most teams I've seen tend to find the few teams that are right around their skill level and play them like 70% of the time and then the occasional roll against a team much worse or an occasional getting rolled by a team much better.

#21 Inconsistency in Q/A Help

One thing that used to happen to me was i'd be doing poorly and then because of that I'd start getting down on myself kinda. I'd be 1:3 k/d ratio and i'd just start getting obsessed with making it even or higher than that, but I would be so wrapped up in the desire to be doing well that if I tried to recall how i'd even died those 3 times, I wouldn't remember. Try to kind of "record" i guess everything that's happening during the game, but dont analyze it just focus on remembering after the fact, like repeat to yourself during respawn "x happened and caused y which caused me dying/me getting 3 kills" and then stop focusing on it and just go onto the next life/push and eventually you'll probably start to see patterns like "hey i pushed when my team was fighting and got 3 kills, that's happened a few times" or "Wow I keep dying when I check for stickies without a buff", it can even become specific to teams/players like "I keep dying to these scouts whenever i'm alone, I should play tighter with my team" or "Their scouts aren't anywhere ever I should have an easy time flanking if I want too"

EDIT: i wont front i said used to happen to me, it still does at times lol

#103 Suspended for being a bystander to cyberbullying in Off Topic

Wasn't me but for the class I was supposed to graduate in (i graduated a year early) the senior prank was gonna be to plant a bunch of california poppies in the school yard in formation to spell out "2012" cause we thought it'd be illegal for them to pick them (was wrong) but someone snitched and when the senior class showed up at 12 am to get to work there were multiple squad cars and the principal + other school administration waiting in the quad. Luckily someone realized what was about to go down and i think almost everyone got away. Also the person who snitched was outed by their best friend and they were ostracized for a while by everyone.

I can understand not playing people obv nowhere near your skill since it is pretty poor practice to play against people with obvious movement and poor aim, but if someone who stomps you shit talks they're probably mad, trolling, or just fucking dumb. It's easy to be nice to someone just play a game or two, say gg and !remove

Also some people have the worst brought out of them by mge rank. Not everyone but some people start thinking of mge as some trial of skill where if you lose its an embarrasement instead of a practice mod.

#166 OTHER HOBBIES? in Off Topic

skate, other games (qlive, whatever shitty games my real life friends play), chill with people (drink/smoke), study (thinking of majoring in socio or poly sci lol), cook, go to the theater w/ my buds to criticize whatever movie we see, sometimes dnd/mtg/warhammer but only when its with people who take it very casually like I do ( I once almost got kicked out of a d&d session for making a remark 'in character' about exp ), swim,. Wanna start drawing more and this season im gonna pick up snowboarding.

#9 Seeking scout DM/general advice in TF2 General Discussion

If you're interested in 6's, first i'd look and really try to see if the problem is your aim. Unless you're missing shots on people that aren't looking at you/dodging your shots or you are missing shots on people standing still then you're dm isnt the most pressing issue most likely, and in this case i'd work on making sure that you're taking the right kind of fights, like fights where you know you only have to hit 1 shot to kill them or fights where you know you can get the jump/1st full scatter on someone, a good way to learn how to do this in my opinion is to play with your team (by which i mean play close to your team) and during stalemates or during the beginning of pushes instead of trying to play aggressively and get picks try playing more passively and making sure that once the uber exchanges are over or the initial spam has gone and players are reloading you're ready to get a buff and go push the other team around a little. The way you work with your team to create openings for them and to capitalize on the small openings they can give you ( bouncing a demo, doing a lot of damage to a few players, or even just eating up/dodging a lot of spam ) is just as important as aim.

As for actually aiming, i'd watch top level players and maybe try to watch how you aim compared to them, other than that just practice trying to be accurate and not letting your movement be detrimental to your aim. Also muscle memory helps for twitch aim but i wouldn't put too much concentrated thought into that since imo its mostly something that has to develop on its own

Hope it helps,
Sincerely, a scrub

#17 srs business in Off Topic

They are right about being more social. I know it sucks living out in nowhereland and it sucks even more constantly moving around and not being able to establish friends at your own convenience, but right now you're at the perfect place to learn how to make friends (highschool) and trust me that is a skill you will not only want but need to survive and make any sort of progress in your own life after you do become independent. I used to be very non-social spending like 100 hours a week on tf2 but once I stopped and looked at the real world i realized how unhealthy having 1 activity you enjoy is (imo a big sign of depression if all you look forward too is the computer). Life sucks, and especially sucks if you're a very different person than the people who control you. But once you turn 18 you should realize that the only person who can 100% dictate what you do and how you do it is you.

Also get a job pretty hard to be independent without any money unless you wanna live(?) off of the government your entire life.
