Hello my dear community,

basically whats happening is that i aim like how im supposed to when my anti virus is updated but when theres a new update released its like aiming on ice kinda and really hard to track

ive tried windows defender and im now using bitdefender, windows defender had more issues but with bitdefender my aim is what i would consider what it should be whilst updated

this isn't a placebo because i can literally tell when there's an update by the feeling of my mouse and it happens quite frequently with this bitdefender antivirus that i'm using

even to eliminate this i just played quake and foudn that i am a loooot more confident with the LG whilst updated vs when there isn't an update. I was hitting 38%-40% when it needs an update and 45%+ with it updated and i tested this like 5 times

Forum Veterans will note i've made this thread a lot among the years but we never really found a solution, This has plauged my entire gaming career thus far.

Any solutions? Why is this only happening to me? Love u all, ur boy Funhaver

An ad blocker and not going to shady places / downloading shady shit is far more effective than antiviruses. If you want more security you can disable scripts in your browser or sandbox it. This of course isn't perfect and it just covers the most common vectors, but an antivirus won't have as good of a success rate as just not doing anything that could get you a virus.

If you are the kind of person who looks at their virus report and notices they've had 0 viruses found for the fifth year in a row, you don't really need that antivirus's active protection scanning everything (can still run a manual check every once in a while if you want). And if you do get loads of viruses reported, you should change up your habits to not rely on an antivirus since odds are it didn't catch everything anyway.

Of course, linux is an option too.

The two ways you can get a virus are through zero day exploits or being irresponsible.

You can't protect yourself against a targeted zero day besides keeping software up to date and anti-virus won't help.

And if you don't click on suspicious links, click random ads or trust any website and download whatever onto your PC, you'll be good.

Check if your antivirus is putting any of your drivers/proprietary software in its virus chest. Although I’ve never had a mouse problem, my AV will sometimes put my vst synth .dll’s in the chest without telling me. Just an idea, hope it helps.

Antivirus isn't hardware so do I really care?

Even worse this is obviously a psychological issue. The lingering doubt in your mind that your pc is not as secure as it could be takes away subconscious focus from your aim.

its not a subconscious issue if u can literally feel it in ur mouse and u are 100% of the time right that there's an update

it effects moreso in quake and adadadada scout v scout mge doesn't really effect anything else and its just because the issue is effecting that kinda aim where its all track based wont rly effect the 6s at least not that much.. it has no effect on soldier v soldier ammomod for example where u dont have to exactly track everything

like heres how it works so i start my comp and then everythings fine for an hour and then my aim goes to Dick Cheese and then i just check if its an update, and it is and then my aim goes instantly back to normal.

and its not specifically anti virus its any update, so the update can be for graphics card or something and it does the same kinda effect, its just that anti virus happens more frequently than the others

It's confirmation bias.
Your aim just sucks after 1h and then you look for an update to blame.
