Gambling Website Scammers

In the last week I have been added by maybe 5 scammers that all tried to scam me through some sort of gambling site. Some scams/websites more sophisticated than others.

I usually don't get added by these people since I'm not on any trading sites so I believe that a lot of other people may be at risk as well.

I'd like to raise awareness about this type of scam since some forms of it are directed towards competitive players/well known community members (like the first one I'll mention).

The best way to prevent being scammed is to remember:
No-one on adds you on steam and just straight up offers you money!
These scammers make the scam very appealing by saying that you could get up to 100$ or something (they also disguise themselves as a cute girl with a cute name to trick us, cute boys, to getting scammed), on the other hand this is also a dead giveaway. Nobody, especially someone who owns a decent gambling site, will add you and offer to give you money.

Not that it matters much, since there are so many scams out there, but I'm going to post some of the scams I've been presented with in the last week.

- The Publicity scam: The scammer adds you, says he owns/works with a gambling site, and offers to give you a free win on his website in exchange for exposure in the form of you adding the website link to your name or description. He says he will give you a win every week. Now to get this you will have to deposit items into the site (this is where they get you :]), a minimum of 10$.
I was added by two of these types of scammers and they both used the same site template (the site seems to be down at the moment).

- The deposit scam: The scammer adds you and says that they have a code for a case opening website (usually 20$ or something like that). I didn't invesitgate further but my speculation is as follows: You enter the code get 20 virtual dollars on the site. Open a box and WOW I got a really good item! As you go to retrieve the item the site says something along the line of: "You must have made a deposit (min. 10$) retrieve items". Now if you do deposit the money you can guess what happens, you gon get got.

- Help me get my Pan :3 - Didn't go very deep into this one aswell but I suspect it works in a similar way as the previous one, heres the chat log:

13:19 - pige: Hi
13:19 - Molly: hi
13:19 - Molly: Can you help me withdraw Golden Frying Pan on the gambling site?
13:20 - pige: Why do you need help with that?
13:20 - Molly: I cant do it because my account has a trade hold on 7 days
13:20 - Molly: I have 2500 coins on gambling site,if you will help me I can give you 500 coins
13:21 - Molly: I will transfer coins to you and you withdraw items for me and any items for urself
13:21 - pige: Okay and let me guess
13:21 - pige: To withdraw items I need to deposit something first?
13:22 - Molly: idk
13:22 - Molly: no
13:22 - pige: Right so
13:22 - pige: Can I get the site?
13:22 - Molly: yeah
13:22 - Molly: http://steam-bet.com/
13:23 - pige: Now
13:23 - pige: How would I go about doing this
13:23 - Molly: Im send coins now
13:24 - Molly: Sign up.You must be on the website to transfer coins
13:24 - pige: Dont really have time for this at the moment
13:24 - Molly: k
13:24 - pige: Could you just tell me how the scam works so I can give you my hats
13:24 - pige: ?
13:24 - Molly: later

Predyou have to be retarded to fall for these steam scams, the people that get scammed by them deserve to be scammed

You're just defending scammers with that attitude.

ILLEGALELEPHANTGUNthanks for the heads up. scammers are always looking for new ways to weasel their way into your wallets/backpacks.

I don't know, I've also been added by a few scammers a few months ago with the same scamming technique, luckily I have a friend who can harm them much more than I can so i resorted to him but the friends requests didn't stop so I just ignore them now when I see free money on their profile

i remember one time a guy added me asking me to trade and i said i couldn't trade for a month. he literally waited a whole month and asked me to trade with a bot with the intentions of 'verifying my items.' LOL these folks are determined
