I'm just so tired of people bawling their eyes out that they only lost because they had 80 ping while we had 60. Is there any way to make a server plugin that would give everyone on the server just enough fakelag to match the player with the worst ping and then adjusts it to keep it matching throughout the game? I never want to hear this excuse after a scrim ever again.

So you would rather gimp yourself and 10 other people as well as making people get used to multiple different pings, all so that you do not need to listen to people whine?

Yeah no. Ignore it and accept your win rather than make everything difficult for everyone else.

Also, what happens when there's a Euro or South American? I don't want to match Heny's 180 ping if we play EU Gimmicks. What happens when someone is spiking to 500 ping, everyone stutters with them?

The longer I think about this, the more problems there are.

theres a brazilian team in etf2l enforcing the rule where they can play one of the two maps on their server every week, just tell those to grow up cause it could clearly be much worse lol

That's not the point. If we're playing them on a Dallas server where we're getting consistently higher ping, we still have an advantage whether or not they complain about it. I want to play them as fair and balanced as possible so the only deciding factor is skill.

Do people not already have to get used to different pings on different servers?

Nobody's forcing you to use a plugin. I'm not asking for this to be on every server. It's just something my team and I would like to play with on our own server. Instead of fighting over whether we're using our scrim partner's Chicago server or our Dallas one, we'll be playing on an even field.

tsarAlso, what happens when there's a Euro or South American?

I've never played against Euro or a South American player, but I suppose I would just...turn it off?

It's like a LAN. Except instead of everyone having 2 ping, everyone has 80.

ugc's system where you can request a server change at halftime is really nice

tsarWhat happens when someone is spiking to 500 ping, everyone stutters with them?

That would certainly be fair, but it would suck. I've never played with anyone who has massive ping spikes before though and I don't think it's that common to have 500 ping spikes every game.
It's probably easy to have a ping cap of 100. That's why I'm asking if a plugin of this sort is possible.

i for one would love to have 3 times my normal ping because one of the other team's scouts has a literal potato for a router

Vecc60 vs 80 ping is not THAT big of a difference

to be fair anything above 70 becomes a lot more of a struggle than 60 or below

You've played with me.

Anyways unless it's an noticable difference (like when my internet like to die during scrims), who really cares. 60v80 is really not much.

as a west coast player on a west coast team, it is pretty common to join a scrim and realize that your team has 80+ ping and theirs has under 40. it would be cool to have a fakelag plugin to make things fair, but honestly, its just going to piss people off that pay extra for better internet, or better geographical location. it's a real shame that so many games are still limited by connectivity, but there really is not much we can do. teams in close proximity to chicago servers will always have an advantage i guess.

isn't that what negotiating servers is for? not sure how it works in ESEA but in ETF2L you can negotiate a server, and if you can't agree there's rules for deciding which maps get played on which teams' server

Imagine the level of gay that would come with that. If you know that you’re playing a team whose soldiers carry them you could ring someone on a dsl connection from fucking China and completely cripple their carries. Or if you’re playing against a team you know is toxic you could play on high ping and hope their team dies halfway through the match
