GJ HOUSTON HELL YEA!

honestly this game was like game 6 where the one team had the opportunities to score but end up dry, Still was a fantastic series played by both teams

Since the nats choked I’m happy Houston clutched it out. But why the fuck did they start Darvish game 7?

It was a really great Series. Never knew what the hell was going to happen and it was nice to see the 'Stros finally reach the top - their teams in the 90s were so fun to watch (Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio, Billy Wagner, Shane Reynolds), but always fell just short :( Their long period of time in the dumpster was hard to countenance.

I was deeply confused by the Dodgers last night though lol.
If you've got Clayton Kershaw available to pitch, you have the man start game 7. Period - it's literally game 7. Especially when the guy you're about to put on the mound imploded once already. Then they had Cody Bellinger as a giant gaping hole batting at all. I understand if they had to play him for defensive reasons, and he had a great season, but you stick him at 8th and cut your losses, because he was mind-fucked. So that when, the best hitters on your team get on base, he doesn't just record a K for one of your hottest hitters in Joc Pederson lol.

It's awesome that the last three WS winners have ended some serious droughts.

Agreed with Marxist though. If Kershaw is available for multiple innings why is he not starting? It's like every manager saw Bumgarner in 2014 and just assumed this was the correct way to do things.

On the other hand, if Kershaw or Wood gave up runs and then the Dodgers lost, people would be questioning Roberts not starting the fully rested starting pitcher that they specifically traded for for the postseason

kershaw was on incredibly short rest and 4 innings was likely his limit regardless. keep in mind kershaw also imploded on the keuchel kershaw rematch game and has a reputation for doing poorly in playoffs

Yeah that is true he stunk up the place that game in pretty epic fashion too lol. I'm not as familiar with his past playoff performances, so that prolly did come into play.

I grew up with a completely different mentality (and era) to where the Ace pitcher, especially a Cy Young winner, NEVER came out and *always* pitched the big games unless they've majorly screwed up or are obviously unable to stand up properly and they just threw until their body physically gave out or they got destroyed by the opposing team. Of course, that's why only a few legends survived the 90s intact. I'll still never forget Randy Johnson coming in with only 2 days rest to pitch 3 innings and the crowd going fucking nuts as "Welcome to the Jungle" played. But that was a relief appearance to be fair. Or Kirk "I can't even walk" Gibson in game 1 of 88' as a hitter lol.

I do get the argument for using Yu Darvish in 7 as planned especially since he was a hired gun, but just watching him in his previous appearance showed me somebody who didn't have themselves together mentally and as a result was unable to function. It happens to pitchers all the time, especially a guy like Darvish who had to be aware that his performance would directly impact what sort of deals he would get this off season.
