Ammo management is a great aspect of this game that is totally eliminated for the soldier who is running Cow Mangler. I believe it is a direct upgrade (charged shot + infinite ammo + team can still spam sentries on last with soldier and demo) and that it should be banned.

viperwhy not instead of doing the stupid tf2 illuminati meetings with all the heads and influential members from each region, how about we just take a poll that includes THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY, so one unified poll that people in europe, north america, asia, and australia can all vote in

what is vote manipulation?
seriously there is no good way to insure that one person doesn't a) create multiple accounts if the voting is linked to accounts or b) reset their IP allowing them to vote multiple times if each IP can only vote once.

The easiest way to do it would be the same as we used to do with an additional step...

All new and significantly altered non-vanilla items are banned for the current season then in the offseason:

Step 1.

Every Invite (Prem) team receives a spreadsheet with every non-vanilla item on it. They put an x next to any item they don't want. If a weapon receives a majority of x's from the teams it is banned. Dead teams don't get a vote.

Once it's sorted out, both the ESEA and ETF2L lists would be compared.

Now the extra step. Step 2:

For any item which was banned in one league and not the other, a new spreadsheet will be created and handed to an equal number of teams from Invite and Prem (in case there winds up being a different number of submissions from each division - so the lowest finishing teams from one or the other may be excluded). A new round of voting is held, and if an item winds up with an equal vote for or against it is banned in both leagues. There would be a week between votes to allow for discussion between NA and EU players that care to do so and to give them time to get together and discuss how they would like to use their vote.

Ez.

Repeat every season.

@Marxist maybe I'm missing something but I don't understand why it would be necessary to seperpate prem and invite for the voting. Why not just let each team vote and take the majority?

I'm assuming the seasons wont end at the same time so it simplifies things to not wait as teams change so much later on in the off season. It also helps for administrative purposes as Tri and his equivalent in Etf2l could hand out these sheets and receive the input directly from them instead of needing to organize it some other way. Then you do the second round where there are conflicts to ensure that EU and NA get an equal number of votes. I'm also assuming there will be quite a lot of debate/input after each vote is done, so the second round of voting not only ensures equal input, but at least a smidgen of community input.

Some people don't want to watch a stale metagame. You can't act conservatively about the new changes and expect everything to end benignly by banning. It's fine to ban new weapons/changed weapons during the ongoing season, but keeping them banned permanently once the season is over will solve nothing.

Unlocks aren't the culprit behind viewership increasing or decreasing - it's the perceived quality of the match itself. Having casted 11 seasons in a row, I can tell you we always have *way* more viewers whenever people think it's going to be a really good match - but if it's less well known teams, or a potential 5-0 only the most avid watchers tune in.

In fact if we purely went off of viewership for unlocks, we would develop a pro-mod to make the game as much like it was in 2011 as much as possible. Or worse yet for unlocks, our most viewed event was played with European rules and vanilla + medlocks (pre-crossbow buff) lol.

you know, what really makes me not want to watch a riveting game of sixes is the fact that I'll never see a buffalo steak heavy punching his way through mid.

You can use the fact that pyro is very broken right now to completely ban him for a season.
