My tf2 has recently been having insane lag spikes, where the game would just lag out and freeze for 5 to 10 seconds, it doesnt happen in any other game but when it does lag, my mumble tends to lag iirc.

I've tried reinstalling, using a different hud, using a different cfg, stopping demo record and then resuming, stopped using my hatless mod. I've tried everything but im still getting insane lag, I don't know if it's something with my internet because i've only experienced it happen in tf2, does anybody know how i could go around fixing this?

Video or screenshots with net_graph 4 please. Also, wifi or cable?
Also, if it's internet lag, you'll still see stuff like small character animations looping smoothly, particle effects and shit, if it's PC lag, everything will be frozen or choppy

Does the screen freeze (can you open the escape menu) or is it just network lag?

I'm using cable, and i'm also using dxlevel81, the game seems to freeze in general, i'll try to see if i can spot anything while it freezes next, and i'll try getting some screens of net_graph 4 while it happens too.

i'll be honest that i'm not even sure it's a ping spike or anything either.

could It be high cpu usage? since you said that mumble lags out as well. What are your specs, also try monitoring your cpu usage through the task manager.

AlesKeecould It be high cpu usage? since you said that mumble lags out as well. What are your specs, also try monitoring your cpu usage through the task manager.

I dont understand why it would be a problem with the CPU, since i didnt have this issue until recently, but i do have a low end APU rather than a processor. (AMD A4-6300) As well as 7384MB of ram

I know that it isnt an issue with mumble because i have the spikes while not using it, i'll try to get screenshots of my net_graph 4 while playing if that helps?

mastercomsDoes the screen freeze (can you open the escape menu) or is it just network lag?

I've checked now, I took 3 screenshots of my net_graph 4 and net_graph 1 (sorry that it overlaps with my hud)

The screenshots weren't taken during the freezes i mentioned earlier, but i could notice choppy and laggy gameplay

It seems that even though i have stable 120fps and from what i can see, stable 30 ping, i'm still getting choppy gameplay

Sorry for the plug, but could you see if it happens when you use my config? http://www.teamfortress.tv/42867/mastercomfig-fps-customization-config

I would also recommend trying -dxlevel 98.

as far as i know, it has nothing to do with the cfg since i've already switched it once, I've considered trying the config but there were loads of talks about crashes and etc? i'll try it out.

The easiest and most efficient way to see if your internet service is the cause of the issue would be to monitor your connection by going to the command prompt and typing, "ping 4.2.2.2 -t", this will begin pinging indefinitely and can be stopped by hitting Ctrl + C, but if you let it run for a couple of minutes and you see abnormally high response times or significant package loss, that would designate an issue with your internet connection
