hello gamers. i have a powerline that works just fine all the time other than when im watching videos. i havent noticed a pattern but normally after any more than about 5 minutes into a video itll start buffering because the internet died and i have to unplug and replug the adapter. any suggestions how to fix this?

I found that most of my issues with powerlines stem from one end being plugged into an extension cord. Not sure if it'll help with your issue, but try plugging the powerline piece that goes into your computer directly into an outlet if you haven't already.

EDIT: also try plugging the powerline into a different outlet when resetting

And also they're super picky with regards to being on the same circuit as other appliances. For example, when I was using powerline, it was great until someone plugged the vacuum into the same receptacle as the powerline adapter. Then it went to shit. Keep in mind multiple receptacles may live on the same circuit. Also, consider the age and quality of your house's wiring because that plays a role as well.

mine just goes out then comes back after a few minutes. Only had to reset it like twice in the last 6 months

yes both are plugged into the wall i made sure of that, and my room is literally above my router so the two outlets im using are in really close proximity, so i would imagine the wiring between them would be pretty short (im certainly no electrician though)

i havent noticed this happening when other appliances are turned on, it happens when no one else is home and happens almost 100% of the time when im watching a video longer than about 5 minutes

no ram issues, but it is overclocked

my only guess is that my ethernet port shuts off after 5 minutes if i dont move my mouse or something??? but idek if thats a thing and i have no idea how i would fix it if it is

bumping this because im still having this issue but am now pretty certain that using my mouse does not affect this, it still disconnects after about 5 minutes even when using mouse, so it might be that it disconnects when the keyboard isnt used for 5 minutes or so? if anyone has any suggestions let me know.
