Here are the results of the Map Rating Poll taken in this thread.

124 Total Entries
88 North American
36 Europe

There are 7 universal maps used by both sides. (Bad, Gran, Gully, Process, Snake, Sunshine, Viaduct)

The final 2 maps were specific to NA (Metalworks) or EU (Reckoner).
I excluded these maps from the main entry total in Post #3 but did include them in NA and EU breakdowns.

If anyone wants to know how I calculated the votes

Show Content
There were only 8 entries possible so I used the number value for each vote from 8 points to 1 point.
Example using my own votes would be:

Gullywash – 8 points
Snakewater – 7 points
Metalworks – 6 points
Granary – 5 points
Badlands – 4 points
Viaduct – 3 points
Sunshine – 2 points
Process – 1 point

Most Liked Maps
First Place Entries (124 votes)

35 – Process
31 – Snakewater
27 – Gullywash
16 – Viaduct
10 – Badlands
4 – Sunshine
1 – Granary
0 – Metalworks (Only NA votes)
0 – Reckoner (Only EU votes)

Least Liked Maps
Last Place Entries (124 votes)

51 – Granary
20 – Metalworks (Only NA votes)
17 – Badlands
12 – Sunshine
8 – Reckoner (Only EU votes)
6 – Viaduct
4 – Process
3 – Snakewater
3 – Gullywash

Process, Snakewater and Gullywash were neck and neck for first place the whole time. I was kinda surprised that Snakewater was so strong considering how people always complain about pushing into and out of last.

51 out of 124 people voted Granary as the least favorite map. Only 1 poor soul voted Granary as his favorite map.

I was really surprised with Metalworks getting 20 last place votes considering not a single EU vote was accepted for Metalworks. (It was never in your rotation)

Universal Map -- Vote Breakdown
124 Entries -- 992 – Maximum Points -- 124 – Minimum Points

1st Place -- Process and Snakewater (752)
3rd Place – Gullywash (709)
4th Place – Viaduct (618)
5th Place – Badlands (516)
6th Place – Sunshine (476)
7th Place – Granary (303)

Pretty amazing that after 124 votes, Process and Snakewater had the exact same total as the most liked map. At one point Gullywash was leading but several of the late entries listed Gully with low votes.

I was surprised by Sunshine almost passing Badlands. Generally Badlands did much worse than I expected. Either people really liked it or really hated it so it ran in the middle of the scoring all the time.

are there any maps that would are far enough in development to potentially replace the least liked maps next season (bagel, etc)?

Yeah sorry, I did not go back that far in your archives to see. That is like 8 seasons old so I don't think it was worth it to count.

Thanks for doing this. It could go a long way to convince admins to remove Granary for good.

Yeah huge thanks for this analysis. It greatly helps league administrators. especially as new seasons are being prepared internationally.

Thanks, I really just did it cause I had so much down time at work and it was fun.
In the end, I actually wish I had a lot more entries, especially from EU, but if the results actually help in any way that's a nice bonus. :)

Europe seems to have the problem that the "new" map is always the lowest scoring no matter what it is. I honestly think reckoner is way better than logjam or sunshine ever were and I think it's a fair bit better than a few of the maps that have been in the rotation for a while. Those maps playing poorly is far more accepted because they've been around for long enough that people have worked out decent strats on them, even though they still play godawfully (looking @ u badlands last).

This goes against how ETF2L announce their 6s seasons, but it would be nice if the map pool was announced ahead of time so that if there are any new maps in rotation, teams have ample time to practice them. The 2 weeks between the pre-season and the actual season aren't really cutting it, aside from the fact that even once the preseason is done, the main season's map pool still isn't decided.

New maps are never at the start of a season though, so you always have approx 6 weeks to practise a map.
