TF2 Match Reruns Stream Question

So I've been entertaining the idea of making a stream dedicated to reruns of TF2 matches, and I'm wondering if I would need permission from TFTV staff (maybe the invite illuminati as well you never know) in order to show casted matches on stream, if I do, who would I contact to get that permission?

Really like this idea tbh. Would love to see it come to fruition.

They tried to do something like this in the last offseason, but as far as I know they only restreamed one game. I would love to see something like what https://www.twitch.tv/esl_overwatch does, just constantly streaming reruns if there are no live games to cast.

I don't think we actually rebroadcast a casted game. We did a cast of an stv demo of a good game from earlier in the season that didn't get casted.

I believe the reason we don't have something like esl is due to the need for a computer to be dedicated to streaming a all the time. But it may have been for other reasons.

Unfortunately I can't currently support a 24/7 streaming computer, my idea was to have two schedules, one for NA and one for EU.

I have some spare processing power on a server of mine that I could donate to the cause, if there's enough interest.

question is, is it worth the processing power and time spent? I mean I dont think that many people will watch it because our community is so small, we watch the matches we want and we know when theyre live. while i do think that this is a great idea, i dont think its worthwhile for the guy setting all of this up imho

I think it could be great. Sometimes I just want to watch some good TF2, and choosing a certain game is time-consuming. For those moments a stream like this would be really good.

To build hype before i61 it could just rerun all i-series, too.

It certainly won't get the 1000+ viewers that the ESL stream usually gets, but I know I would watch it pretty regularly. To be honest, I do agree, it'll probably only be getting 10-20 viewers most of the time, but I could see it going to 100+ during peak hours, especially if word gets out about it and people who aren't so good at the game get directed there.

Besides that, ESL is just an example; it doesn't have to be followed to the letter. If for whatever reason it's really, truly unfeasible to do a true 24/7 stream, I think it'd still be nice to have guaranteed streams at certain times of the day.

It's honestly kinda sad. I imagine most of them have been lost to time, but we could have upwards of 5 years worth of casts out there; that's easy, easy rebroadcast content. Gotta get those piles of Twitch cash.

Darkdwarfbuild hype before i61 it could just rerun all i-series, too.

Not a terrible idea, but the tftv guys aren't adament on doing reruns constantly because a) it's a LOT of work/resources and b) it would bring few viewers.

However if we do it just rerunning matches from i-series past to build i61 hype...

I know nothing about how this works. What do you need besides a running PC and vods of the casts? I kinda figured you could basically just turn it on and do an AFK stream.

That's what my basic plan was to do, just open up some good vods in a playlist or something and leave it on for a few hours.

That being said, what times should the reruns be streamed, and for how long? I'd love to do times that work for both NA and EU

Unfortunately, teamfortress.tv cannot allow its content to be used on external channels, so any such channel would have to be done under an official channel.

As for whether we would, we have tried this in the past and found it to be generally underwhelming except for special occasions (e.g. broadcasting Insomnia reruns prior to an event). Since VODs are already available on YouTube, the audience for such a venture is very small, and thus it does not make any sense for us to pursue at the current time, especially with the limited resources we have.
