i found out that spotify has been lowering my fps by a great margin. I tried turning it off in a pug and my fps literally doubled. does anyone have a fix for this problem? i love listening to music while i'm playing but after finding out that spotify has been hindering my gameplay, i'm trying to find either a fix or a substitute. thanks.

Ash_Does it matter if it's minimized?

nah it lowers my fps either way, even if i wasn't playing music. im pretty sure it uses a lot of CPU power

I had to turn off the "high quality streaming" option in the settings otherwise the spotify client gave me terrible ping spikes. Not the same issue but may be worth a try anyway, it shouldn't be utilizing very much of your CPU.

At bottom of the advanced options there is also hardware acceleration, i'd try turning that off as well

since theres a spotify related thread I have a question: spotify isnt available in my country and I thought about asking somebody from where its available to sign up using my email and then download the app with another apple id (which I already used to download pokemon go), so the question is, will I be able to use it that way? kinda derailing but maybe there are people who know something about that

Also if u use the web player you can control it in the in-game browser (albeit with some lag) which is nice for plebs like me who don't have multiple monitors bc alt-tabbing every time I want to skip or adjust the volume of a song gets annoying fast

i would very much prefer not to download my own music. i used foobar before but declared that it was too much work to download the thousands of songs in my playlist.

you can also use adblock with the spotify web app and avoid the annoyingly loud spotify ads (seriously i was listening to that shit on my phone and my ears started bleeding its actually way louder than any music ive heard using the app by like 10db at least)

holy cringe
but back on topic i think that using a lot of resources is just the nature of a music streaming service
